The difference in FSR 2 really surprised me there 🤯

You could try sharedeck or steam deck hq, though the latter only has a few games shown they're far more in depth.

no I don't think so. optimal is also subjective I'm going to play docked to a 4k tv so an older game would look better at 1080p 40fps than 720-800p 60fps as an example.

Sweet, all they have to do is remove Denuvo DRM and I'd be happy to buy this game for my future steam deck

@@jamespradel7918 Dying Light 2 isn't on GOG, and even if it was, I have less faith in their DRM checking habits after Hitman 3 got on their store, a game that requires you to wait in an MMORPG queue to play a single player game (I'm not kidding, either), because it is _that_ terminally online; I'm not even sure Denuvo screws you that badly. Frankly I'm surprised it even got anywhere near Steam Deck Verified with that in mind, even if it did run. That kinda defeats the "portable" aspect of the deck. CDProjekt did walk it back and have since removed the game from GOG, but it shouldn't have happened to begin with. On top of this, if I were to get Dying Light on GOG, I don't get the automatic shader cache downloads which means, unless they have a native linux version I'm not privy to, caching stutters are going to pervade the experience.

Neat! I think games like Dying Light have a more fundamental problem though, in that they're quite dark. The Deck's screen is decently bright, but displaying a dark environment while in broad daylight will be tough. Ran into that problem playing Styx: Master of Shadows. Game runs fine but I have to play in a pretty dim room to see what's going on.

is there a bunch of hud elements or texts in this game. that's the main benefit of far 2.0

This is the best way to play- Textures on Medium or high lod on low Everything else on medium or low Fsr on balanced And that gets a mostly stable 40fps which makes the game playable.

@@JeremiahStewart102 I used it in Dying light 1 and Fallout 4. I also use it in Doom Eternal, but that's more for the sharpening which is much stronger than the in game sharpening filter.

@@JeremiahStewart102 Try running games at a resolution just slightly below native. I usually use 1152 X 720. I also do this because a lot of modern games with TAA are far too soft and I can use FSR with sharpening to make things pop a bit more. This is a good way to get a game that won’t quite hit 60fps run smoother.

@@nayyarrashid4661 yea i felt kinda bummed at first that i couldnt get 60fps is some games but locking the fps to 40fps i sometimes forget its not 60. I can still tell a difference but its subtle.

@@markdillon9588 No worries. The battery life is great and allows for some long gaming sessions. I’ve never had a single dip out of 40 fps the whole game and it still looks pretty good

If you lock on 40 FPS, FSR2 set to performance and a mix of low and medium settings, I’m getting about 2.5-3 hours

As I was watching was booting the game to try thus!!!

Does dying light 2 need any other tweaks to get running? Or does it work mostly fine out of the box?

It runs out of the box, but you need to change the graphics settings as mentioned in the vid.

In the DX11 mode it has a much higher input lag than in DX12, but in DX12 it crashes with high textures because of the memory consumption.

Dying light 2 sucks, how about dying light 1 on steam deck?

Love your channel, thanks for the update. I got my deck yesterday and can't keep my hands of it.

Fsr 2.0 will keep the first gen deck relevant for the next five years as long as developers keep supporting it. Luckily we're not at a disadvantage in terms of overall power when compared to something like the switch at launch. Hell, spiderman remastered on the deck just proves to me that this whole platform is just getting started, because that experience has been absolutely fantastic. Sony would be stupid to not capitalize on this as a psudo "vita 2" and start moving more and more titles to the PC.

Sony should comeback to handheld market. Handhelds are booming now and a true companion device for PS5 would be welcomed. Sony can make it and treat it better than they did with Vita with 5G support and no network ties. Also release a few mobile versions of PS5 games that are tempting enough.

FSR2.0 will take the Deck to new levels. So happy with mine but seeing this gives me so much hope for it to be able to play AAA games for the forseeable. Just need devs to be incorparating it!

Fsr 2.0 is actually playable and pretty neat. Makes god of war playable and not look like mud soup.

Another problem with the performance might be due to the windiw mode set to borderless bc CPU usage might not be qhat its supposed to be if its not fullscreen. So FSR plus fullscreen would see alot better results possibly

For me game runs perfectly using: -FPS locked to 40 -CryoByte Mod (SWAP File 16GB) - you can find it on his YouTube channel -2GB VRAM in BIOS -PROTON GE 7.43 -FSR Quality -DX12 and Async ON -FOV set to 110 -Antialiasing Sharp -Everything on High except: -Sun Shadows - Medium -Ambient Occlusion - Low -Fog Quality - Low Don’t worry about lowering this three to low because it’s almost unnoticeable between high and low Overall game runs in stable 40FPS with little drops (lowest was 36FPS). In 30FPS mode it runs pretty much stable all the time. For more advanced users due to Decky Loader and PowerTool Plugin you can set : CPU: 2000-2800 GPU: 1400-1600 Remember that Steam Deck uses APU so it shares memory to RAM and VRAM at the same time. From my experience 2GB VRAM in BIOS settings is the middle spot in this game. Many of you have a problem with crashing game after installation and starting new game, the best way to avoid this is set the game using my instructions but for a first few minutes set the textures to low. I think it’s something with shaders compiling/first textures loading and that’s why hardware has a problem to handle that. After 5 min. back to high settings and enjoy beautiful game. So many games play so well it’s baffling and this is first generation hardware. Next steam deck is looking to play all the same games close to 60fps which is crazy.
