Wish they'd stop the pandering and fix real issues, like SD card formatting errors, random crashes into "verifying installation" screen, browsing behaviour in the library and store pages, etc. Instead we get custom boot videos.

Worst that happened to me was the deck losing frame stability in GTAIV. I play 55fps lock since it tends to drop to just below 60 on 2nd island and one time I played it went as low as 35fps, particularly during fast driving. Quick reboot fixed the issue; I suspect some bugged memory leak but it happened only once.

Luke having games be verified but still not working. My friend tried playing bloodstained and he can't get past the first boss because the game freezes afterwards. Green checkmark my ass.

The only problems I have had formatting SD cards is if they are bad. Sometimes formatting through developer options works, but it's usually the SD card at fault.

Just got Steam Deck and not being able to play No Man's Sky is a bummer, it starts but once I try to enter a Normal gamemode ti crashes

Same With Me, The Deck Doesn't Freeze On My Games In Medium GPU Settings, Just Only When I Max Out Graphics On Games Like Dying Light 2 Or 7 Days To Die, Upon Freezing, I Did Notice The Center Of The Deck Gets Really Hot Like My Desktop GPU, Which Is Normal, However, Being In A Tight Space, Which I Believe The Heating Is The Main Source Of The Problem.

They need to fix mouse movement on external screens ASAP!

I got the update and me personally see no input delay now even on my 4k tv. I love the update, it made docked mode actually playable for me on my tv.

when someon connects the deck to a 120hz display, will the slider allow range from 40-120 ?

Waiting for the official dock, so any display changes in the updates i hope will get us closer to them releasing it. (mostly because my screen only has Display Port and all docks i've seen so far are HDMI, the offical one also has DP ...but also because i find the branding obnoxious on most 3rd party docks). I'd like to see proton add a bit more focus into fixing old titles, like most of the old Star Wars games don't have green checkmarks or wont work at all, the ones i got going (Republic Commando, Jedi Starfighter, Episode 1 Racer) all have issues with video playback, cutscenes, intro videos etc. (either no audio, or no video, or small letterboxed video with no audio)... Rouge Squadron 3D doesn't render the main menu at all but plays fine after you blindly click through it ... stuff like that is really annoying when a game is ALMOST there but some probably small tweaks are missing, you can almost smell the green (or at least yellow) checkmark.

Do the file swap, i got it set to 16gb not a single crash and a few more fps, never had a crash before but just for the boost os worth it

I just really wish they would let me set a 35hz or 70z mode on steamos. Both work fine on windows. It’s literally ALL I NEED to make original dos era games look right.

@@insperatus Not from anything I've found. And I am TOTALLY FINE with it being a developer feature (since not all screens are created equally, and not all eyes are either. Some people and some screens will not support 35hz and some won't support 70hz. So forcing me to go into config files is fine. But nothing I have found makes it doable.

You could try doing it from desktop mode. I agree it would be good for it to come to gaming mode but you may be able to do it right now in the "Display Configuration" application found in desktop mode.

Did you open a request on the Steam Deck forum?

The one thing I'm really hoping to see is a fix for the issues with docking to a 4k screen. The refresh rate is seemingly capped to 30fps regardless of the game or FPS options I set, and games run at this weird half speed. The audio is glitched out and overall it's unplayable. This is both on emulators and actual games such as Guilty Gear. I hope when the official dock comes out they fix those problems.

Also double check the HDMI cable you're using with another 4K input, if it's not high-speed it may not actually be able to carry more than 4K30.

When a TV is attached to a device which can send video to it, it sends a list of compatible modes (res and framerate) to that device - but Steam Deck had no way to choose between them in gaming mode (you could still do it in Desktop) it just would use the first config from the list from the TV. A lot of TVs worked just fine, but some for instance had 30FPS configs at the top of the list. It's not because it is a 4k screen but because the Deck doesn't yet have a way to switch resolution/framerate from gaming mode. There is an update in the preview build which addresses this (adds a selector for res and framerate) but it isn't ready for mainstream yet. You can try it, or you can try using desktop mode and setting your resolution and framerate from there with the "Display Configuration" application. Anyhow Valve is certainly aware of this an actively working on a fix.

I've been looking for a fix for my issue, any mouse driven games within retroarch on steamdeck get strange mouse control glitches when using the trackpad (no issue with joystick mouse), the mouse gets stick in an invisible bounding box the size of the screen that doesn't follow screen movements properly. Feels like a steamdeck issue because the joystick mouse emulation works properly only the trackpads seem to get "uncalibrated" or whatever it is.

The external display fix is exactly what I have been waiting for. Like many, I do like the 40/40 800p settings for many games on the go for a good balance of battery life and performance. But at home I dock it and play on a 1080p 55" TV which doesn't support 40hz, which means manually changing the game before docking it, then changing it back next time I play on the go. I don't use this feature yet, but different up-scaling techniques depending on the size and resolution of the display would also be pretty useful.

RDR2 is running real smooth for me now!

I'd held off on buying RDR2 because I saw that it had a lot of trouble with crashing. I'm glad to see they worked to get this popular game running much better. It's an easy buy now.

I just installed Red Dead Online on my Steam Deck, it seems their fix for RDR2 not loading is limited to the full game, not the online variant. Mine just will not launch. I get the R* logo after Rockstar saying it's connecting then after a couple of mins closes back to Steam.

​@@Peltonimo Actually I did! Well, Reddit did lol It's a bit complex but I will try to explain it here. First you need to make sure Proton Experimental is installed on your Steam Deck. To do this do the following: 1) Switch to Desktop Mode (in the Power options from the STEAM button menu). 2) Open up Steam (Not the "Return to Gaming Mode") on the Desktop. 3) In your library, above the list of games click the search bar and bring up the keyboard with STEAM+X then type Proton. Close the keyboard with B. 4) In the list of Proton versions in the library you will see Proton Experimental. Install that if it's not already installed. 5) Now you can close Steam and run "Return to Gaming Mode" on the Desktop. Now go to Red Dead Online where it shows the green Play button and click the cog icon over on the right of the Play button then select Properties. Next click on Compatibility on the left under General. Now, where it says Proton, click there and the drop box will show installed versions. Select Proton Experimental then close the properties box with B. Now you should be able to run the game.

Steak Deck running RDR2 at higher FPS than PS5 and XSX is ridiculous and Rockstar should be embarassed. RDR2 ony worth playing on PC or Steam Deck for foreseeable future.
