Play Warframe, it’s better and it’s ACTUALLY FREE!! Unlike Destiny. Destiny may have the Free to Play name, but it is NOT Free to Play by any means. It’s free to download, but if you want Cosmetics, you want DLC etc. you gotta pay. That game is so overtly monetized that calling Destiny Free to Play is an insult to Free to Play games out there. Warframe, Apex Legends, Fortnite etc. they all only have one charge and that is for cosmetics only. The updates, expansions, DLC is all free. Warframe EVERYTHING is free, Weapons, Frames, Prime Weapons and Prime Frames etc. only thing you pay for is cosmetics. Bungie charges for the Expansions, Seasons, Eververse Cosmetics, they charge for the Dungeons now, they charge money after a certain point with their transmog system, etc.

They probably wanted to resell the DLC again for Steam Deck user.

That wouldn’t be surprising like…. At all. And here everyone said Activision were the evil ones. My theory is that Bungie didn’t get their way so they divorced themselves from Activision so they could get their way and be greedy and to charge arms and legs for DLC then take away that said content. I miss Bungie under Activision’s supervision.

Some launchers won't work well, I'll be going over more of them to find a way that works for each.

Long story short: their homegrown anticheat that they use in tandem with BattlEye requires a level of access to the system (read: process snooping) that isn't possible on the self-contained Wine emulation

@@DavideDavini Stadia has the advantage that it doesn't require any client anti-cheat, because the "clients" are actually are server-side apps in control of the company as well. That's what allows them to just run the bare Linux version without worries. Releasing the same version without anti-cheat on Steam, however, would mean that savvy users could use the Linux permission system on their favor, unfortunately

Maybe they have an exclusive deal with Google but they should have a Linux native version of Destiny, the one running on Stadia. I think it’s just matter of not being worth the effort for them. I’m confident that if SteamOs were to be successful they’ll magically change their minds. As of right now they just don’t want their Windows version running on proton/wine because they can’t control it the way they want to.

I disagree that it “sucks” Destiny is a great game but the business model I do not support via the Fomo Seasonal Model sucks. Vaulting paid Expansions, Subsetting Gear etc. so I honestly stopped playing it for that reason. Bungie has th most anti-consumer model out there. Bungie has become BungiEA

I've read Bungie's statement regarding this issue. It's more like NOT YET than them saying "NO it's not possible"

D1 was great, I played on Day One got into the Beta but didn’t get that much time to play it but Destiny 1 was way better then D2 during The Taken King. But Jason Jones and Joseph Statin who did most of the leg work for D1. Destiny was in a perfect state with The Taken King and Rise of Iron. Bungie fucked it all up then blamed it on Activision.

It sucks, specially because this is to protect the PvP, which is mediocre at best on Destiny and not the reason a lot of people even play the game, but i was kinda expecting it, considering how much Trials of Osiris was rampant with cheaters for almost a whole year, they probably don't want to risk any type of scenario were that happens again... even if they are being too cautious imo.

Bungie, this is a new low. Firstly your game is full of cheaters that nobody is taking care of. Secondly it took you so many months to fix the game for someone with a AMD GPU. Now you are doing this? damn Bungie.. Is it because sony bought you up and you are doing this exclusivly for PSVita2.. then I am down for it.

Just a quick question. Since Destiny 2 is a Steam Game….. how can they ban anyone finding a work-a-around from Destiny 2? How can they determine the difference between someone playing on their Decks Vs their Desktop? How they gonna know that? Only way they can know that is if they actively came to your house and bugged your room with cameras to spy on you to see what you’re playing on. I think Bungie has thought things through all the way cause if they did, they wouldn’t be making these empty threats to ban anyone for finding a work around to play on their decks. Besides, I wouldn’t grace Destiny or any Bungie product on my Steam Deck. I’m getting the Steam Deck for Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War, Star Wars: The Old Republic, Star Wars: Dark Forced 2, the old Half Life games, the KOTOR Remake since it’s PC and PlayStation 5 exclusives, etc. there are far better games out there then Destiny 2. Why give money to a company who steals your content via vaulting that very content you bought? Makes no sense. Waste of money that game is.

There's plenty of ways to detect what platform someone is playing on.

I think they just want a pay cheque from Valve to allow it on Linux - similar to how Google paid them to bring it to Stadia

Stadia also uses Linux. Big brains at Google must have done something to prevent hacking.

It's a good thing hackers have never used windows and we live in a world where the majority of hackers aren't using windows or that would just be a nonsense statement. OH WAIT.

Knew it, they just don't want to deal with potential errors Proton may have and thus compromising their security. But of course they will develop with a big smile the Stadia version.

As a huge Destiny fan I'm so disappointed every time Bungie makes bullshit business decisions like this. The game itself is amazing and the new expansion is the best Destiny has ever been, but no one apart from the core playerbase is going to see it because Bungie keeps fucking up and giving themself a deservedly bad reputation outside of the Destiny bubble.

At least these things are now seen by a broader public and those publishers have to explain themselves.

It's not okay to run the Anti-Cheat on Linux but it's okay to run it on Windows which is a million times more targeted by hackers and cheaters. This is the laziest cop-out answer I've ever seen.
