Your talk isnt nonsense... I agree.. console wars in general are stupid. Play what you want as long as you are having fun it doesnt matter. For me, my preference is the Steam Deck and PC.. My daughter is Pc, switch, and steam deck... there is room for all in the gaming world. GAME ON!

I don't know tho. I do believe competition is great and in a sense console wars benefit us in the end. Fan boyism is fine to a point. Like if you wanna be all in on Sony or Nintendo or Xbox that's fine. Just don't be turds to people who disagree. But then again.... There are a crap ton of games these days and more than not companies are fighting for their game to be played over the endless wave of games out there now so console wars in that sense are stupid.

What surprised me the most is how good it is at letting me play mouse dependant games like city builder and sims. I love that I can craft my Soviet country in Workers and Resources: Soviet Republic on the couch while watching the kids. Or putting together my hospital in Theme Hospital in the evenings while cuddling my wife.

This was one of the great things about the steam controller, but it was to weird/different for the general public. I'm super hopeful for a steam controller 2 due to people finally discovering what it can do due to the deck.

The Steam/Valve support on deck is one of the best. They were very supportive prior the deck and are supportive during the Deck. For example this year I had two requests from the support I asked them if they don't have somewhere backstored Steam controllers (wanted a 2nd one) the support went thru their wares, they sadly didn't find any but recommend me for possible resalers that could have. The second occasion was for Deck where GTA4 didn't boot, looked like a problem on proton layer they gave the request to devs (this was a funny one, at the the problem was that Rockstar banned the IP my ISP was NATing their customers)

In My Opinion The Future Of "Console" Gaming Will Be Steam Vs Nintendo. Xbox Has Game Pass Sure, But All Xbox Games Also Come To PC. And Microsoft Continued Attempts To Make Windows A Walled Garden Will Start To Drive Ever More People To Steam OS. And Sony Is Dead In Japan And Its Insistence on Censorship Will Probably Make The PS6 The Last Sony Console. Nintendo Owns The Mass Market, With The Switch Being A Licence To Print Money. And Steam Is The Biggest And Best Store On PC With The Steam Deck Possessing The Best OS For Gaming And With Some More Years Of Development, Over All.

From 2013-2020 I was using PC on mIXT m, i3, and gtf 660ti, and machine is still in use with family member. The Steam Deck is better in everyway which I find astonishing. Its so versatile and can load it up with all you faves from video gaming history. Value looks like they've done the impossible by bringing Linux into the fore whilst bringing a huge chunk of its most important catalogue along for the ride. The continuing development and support from valve has been pleasantly surprising and reassuring. Also awesome seeing GamingOnLinux coverage from the start, many thanks.

My switch will be relegated to being a Pokémon/Zelda machine at this point just like previous Nintendo handhelds. & at this point Nintendo will have extreme trouble to market their consoles as anything other than first party machines. There will always be a more powerful and more open platform that you can access all of steam games on going forward. We all can assume that Nintendo will not adopt an unlocked platform as they never have the past so even after the Switch success their next console will probably do Wii U numbers

I've had the Deck for about 3 months I think? The joy of using it never ends. Sometimes when I play something on it I am just amazed that I am holding a PC in my hands, it's Linux and everything I do on it just works! I've actually felt like I want to use the Deck but I wanted to play a game that is only fun on an actual PC and I was convincing myself I want to pay my Deck games. I've also gotten the dock (oh god was it expensive though) and I decided why not use the desktop mode for the non gaming activities, I mostly just watch youtube and browse some pages and the power bills situation in Poland is terrible to say the least so why use a PC that draws probably around 200-250W just to browse the Internet when 45W Deck does the same but a bit slower. Here's when I start seeing the cracks in this device. Setting the monitor for the 1st time was just a tad confusing. There's this weird module suspend thing on Linux that pauses audio for apps not used for a few seconds but it only happens over HDMI, works perfectly fine when you get audio directly from the Deck; I don't see an easy way to disable it, fortunately it's not a huge issue to me but it just shouldn't be an issue at all. I will say though, Steam Deck has EXCELLENT audio quality; my earphones that are just okay sound very good with the Deck, and my proper headphones sound AMAZING on the Deck! There is also an issue that whenever I put in an SD with windows on it, then pull it out, boot into SteamOS the fan ramps up to 100% and it will stop at nothing; it requires an additional SteamOS restart to fix it. All in all, Steam Deck is great, for strictly gaming I haven't really ran into many issue worth mentioning but the desktop experience could use some betterment but it's nothing too bad to say anything really negative about the Deck past "it's not perfect". I am happy to live in times where such devices appear and seeing how well this Steam Deck is going, I am EXTREMELY curious to see what gen 2 will have in store for us. Hopefully I will have enough money to justify buying a new Deck but I'd like to think that in 50 years we'll be looking at these devices as relicts that paved the way in handheld PC world.

Got my deck the day before they announced that queues are up gone. Im loving it. I commute a lot and having my pc games available everywhere was the missing piece i needed. Specially because I have a switch and a gaming desktop. I really wanted to play my pc games on the go. Another plus is that every desk at work has a laptop docking station, and it works flawlessly on the deck. I should also add, I also have a 3rd party dock, from genki, for the N switch that works great on the deck too. And Im waiting for the official dock to come. I'm eager to see what the future holds for this system, both officially or not.

I've had my Steam Deck since the end of June and can confidently say it's my favorite device I've ever owned. At this point its clear it wasn't just a honeymoon phase, it's truly just a wonderful device. By far the most comfortable handheld I've used, obviously the most capable, and with Linux you can truly do anything on it. I was disheartened the first time around when SteamOS fizzled, I really had my hopes up for a Linux gaming revolution, but I'm glad to see it finally happened. I'm glad to see you're enjoying your YouTube channel. I'm not sure when I started watching your steam deck update videos here and there but now you're my go-to channel for steam deck and Linux gaming news and content.

I don't know how you even compare the Switch and S'Deck? They are completely separate, in performance, library, market, everything lol. TBF I am excited for my flying trips this upcoming winter, so I can whip that bad boy out in public haha, where as the switch just seems like a phone/much more common to see. I love it, it honestly kind of amazes me by what it can do/does. The only negative being it bricked my SD card, otherwise I feel like its truly a handheld computer not just some mobile device marketed as such. I don't think I will ever go without one now, much like my iPad, it will be a device that I will always have some iteration of so I can game on the go/away from my desk.

I love Steam Deck too, but unfortunately can’t buy it. I was surprised how good they manage control with mouse and just gamepad. Good helps for fps games and desktop mode. Also you don’t need buy games again. And all these features just in one console, it’s amazing. I hope that in the next version it will have a much more powerful battery.

I love, love, love, LOVE my Steam Deck! When I am home, I usually game on my PC, as I have it hooked up to a 120hz 4k 65" display and I game from a couch. But when I go to a friends house to play games, I always bring my Steam Deck rather than my whole dang PC, monitor, and keyboard and mouse.... The thing is so freaking capable for a handheld device! Its a joy to game on! That being said, I can't wait for a more powerful Steam Deck!

I really love it, I've been using Arch for work for years, tinkering a lot with it, and the Steam Deck surprised me by providing an OS I didn't wanna modify. Until I wanted to do some stuff like network audio, which of course is pretty niche, but it shows how SteamOS is a good all round experience for me. I was expecting to play indie games but I actually enjoy playing AAA games on it and I might just ditch my gaming PC. A friend of mine plays his Deck on dock almost all the time, I never docked mine, everybody has a different way of enjoying it and the Deck accomodates all of them just so well. Updates are frequent, Valve plays nicely with the open-source community... I mean, what's not to love right?

I already have a dock and clearly Valve intend to include special functionality along with it. I hope I'll be able to set options in case the dock is detected - maybe not necessarily performance-wise, but e.g. the ability to boot directly into Desktop Mode would be a killer feature.

Support from Valve is awesome. Just shows how much interest they have in developing the community. I'm just enjoying playing and completing games that i didn't play on my desktop without any issues. Honestly, I've been doing about 95% of all my gaming on my Steam Deck. And since I got the official Docking Station I can even play the games that have small text just by connecting it to my monitor. I absolutely love it! And, speaking of Valve's support, the Deck I got initially was defective (the heating wasn't working correctly so the performance was awful). I reached out to Valve, and after suggesting some basic testing steps they asked me to return the defective unit and sent me a new one. In a little over a week I had my new Steam Deck that has been functioning perfectly for several months now.

The steam deck is amazing. I think the switch and steam deck are not comparable but the steam deck can emulate many Nintendo games anyways. I much prefer my steam deck over my switch and PlayStation. It’s convenient and I love being able to just pick it up and be right where I left off.
