UPDATE: thanks to a comment on our website, you can get Ubisoft Connect to auto-launch a specific game by adding uplay://launch/*gameID*/0 to the end of your Steam launch options for the app (ID list here: https://github.com/Haoose/UPLAY_GAME_ID ) which gets around the flashing issue but only works for a specific game at a time. Definitely going to try this on desktop later. I heard TrackMania (2020) can be played for free and I used to have a uplay account for the Assassin's Creed games, so I might as well at that point :) Did you try blizzard's launcher yet? Diablo III was one of the first games I played on linux back when I switched and I remember it working flawlessly through lutris even then, but I never tried to find something like the uplay:// protocol trick to directly launch into the game.

@@gamingonlinux Sad to hear, worst part is that minigalaxy seems to be the only app that can lauch hyperlight drifter correctly but it is not working well with gaming mode. nor can I manually add the game after installing it with minigalaxy.

Would it be possible to write a script and have it run as service for closing the launcher automatically once a specific .exe is being run? For example: >launch AC:O through Ubisoft >service detecs ac:o.exe >closes launcher >goes back to scanning for .exes

That might be possible, as you can add launch options to run it perhaps but i don't personally have the know-how for that.

Thank you for the tutorial. Seems that any popular game launcher can be installed on steam deck after all. I noticed that mangohud shows the status of FSR, I have installed the latest pre-release version 0.6.6-1 on my desktop but there is no option to set it up to show FSR, How did you do that?

@@gamingonlinux My bad. I was confused that steamdeck's Proton version has, what Glorious Eggroll's WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR=1 parameter which enables FSR. Again there must be a way to activate it on mango hud, which I am unaware. Maybe the steamdeck's mangohud version is not public yet. Or am I still confusing things?

FSR does not come with MangoHud, it's part of Gamescope.

Thanks for this tutorial. I have followed your instructions and get the Ubi launcher to open, but it never connects and shows my library. I always get "Connection lost–A Ubisoft service is currently unavailable. Please try again later." I have working Internet because I was able to download the installer. Is it a 2FA quirk maybe? I've never used Linux before getting a Steam Deck and can't figure out why I can never log in to Ubisoft after following these tutorials. Any ideas/suggestions would be most appreciated. Thank you.

@@jedimacfan I have unlimited data on my mobile plan, but the speeds are so slow that it's going to take like a whole day just to download a medium-sized game, like Trials Rising (29GB). Seems odd that UC would work fine on multiple PCs on my network, but not on the Steam Deck. Please report back if you eventually find a solution. I'll commit to doing the same.

@@jedimacfan I'm also in the midwest (WI), and I have this exact same "connection lost" problem. I tried reinstalling UC multiple times. Per your comment, I tried connecting via mobile hotspot and worked immediately! No idea what the issue could be. Thanks for the comment though.

@@gamingonlinux Thanks. Looks like several people are having issues with UC in the midwestern part of the USA. If I connect via hotspot on my phone, the launcher opens just fine. But I don’t have enough hotspot bandwidth to download a full game. No “weird” settings on my home Wi-Fi. Not sure what’s going on.

Is it possible to install .exe mods for a game from a different store? In my case it's openplanet for trackmania 2020 in the Ubisoft launcher. I know that if you install something through steam it creates a new folder, but I need the mod .exe to install in the same folder-structure as the game. Possible? Or should I install Ubisoft connect with lutris/wine instead add the installer .exe to steam? Hope you can help. :) (I don't have my steam Deck yet, but shouldn't be too long until I can order it)

Overwhelming so much so that, its kinda hard to follow instruction esp. when viewing on the deck, where the screen is small. If it's any consolation, I have been in IT for decades now, and even now I sometimes get overwhelmed by some tutorials when it's going too fast - but just take it steady, watch a little bit at a time and when you don't understand a term or a process just look it up and then come back. It's very difficult to make a video that satisfies everyone - for me I like these speedy videos as it gets me the info I need quickly, but I appreciate that someone brand new to all this wouldn't be able to keep up. Just a note, Steam has to have already installed and initialized Proton before you launch the installer. I think steam won't download/initialize proton for a non-steam game? I was trying this on a new machine (not a steam deck) and couldn't launch the ubisoft installer, I had to download a steam game, select Proton Experimental then launch that game to get Proton downloaded and initialized, then I was able to run the installer.

This is pretty good, especially the SD card stuff. But, you go way too fast and don't demonstrate all the steps necessary to arrive at the final files you use. I had to watch this a dozen times before I could understand what you were doing. You seem to take alot for granted. You need to remember that nearly your entire audience is used to Windows navigation. Your message should be really at the basal level and slowed down.

settings->connections-> set mtu size from automatic to 1452 bytes. ubisoft launcher cannot handle the big packet size. restart your deck to apply the changes. helped in my case.

All seemed to work fine in desktop mode, just launching from the steam library shortcut, but when I try to do so in game-mode a loading screen flashes for a second and nothing else happens, like it failed to launch EDIT: NVM a reboot seemed to have fixed the issue Also this was the only way to play assassins creed syndicate that actually worked for me, both Lutris and Heroic launcher resulted in the game failing to launch or crashing 5 seconds after launch

Anyone have any idea if this helps with the issue on Steam Decks when it asks you to login every time you launch older games? It is very annoying and the only work around I saw elsewhere was to launch in offline mode which disables multiplayer systems. I really want to play AC games on the deck but its a pain to have to login every single time and the keyboard doesn't work most of the time.

Thanks for the video, helped me a lot. Everything worked for me, except I can't seem to launch the game when in game mode. Ubisoft connect works fine, games are installed - when I hit launch goes to the splash screen, goes black for a little while then returns to Ubisoft connect. For people who don’t have their SD card appear in the E drive, I found mine in D drive. If it isn’t in either have a look around in C and Z however I doubt it’s gonna be there because there is many files in there which look like the OS files.

BTW it's not that easy finding the address anymore...then I realised they're the same and AC Mirage is downloading now. I did all this with the virtual keyboard and cursor...let me tell you, you need a ton of patience to do it that way.
