We really need a way to increase the time limit on boot videos now. Like that valve guy video has the last couple seconds cut off. I don't want to go back to editing library.js to watch the full video.

The benefits of having an open platform are actually so crazy. Imagine, Valve makes a simple feature more accessible because of user demand, and then a couple of days later the community build on that feature in turn.

I love this. The support that Valve and the Steam Deck community has for this device really just solidifies the reason why my investment in getting a Steam Deck was totally worth it! I love this device and not much else can really compare, in my personal opinion!!! Another great video! 👍🏽

I switched to Handheld History [Vita Edition, non-Home UI] for the time being. I hope a randomizer is officially made by Valve so I can throw in a half dozen or so boot videos and it will do a random one on each reboot.

Just name your vid “deck_startup.webm” and put it in the specific folder

The video needs to be in webm format and it needs to have a certain maximum length. I'm pretty sure the steam deck repo website has that information.

if you have Decky installed, you can install the "Animation Changer" plugin and do all of this without even leaving the steam UI. It can also shuffle all your installed animations so you get a different combination each boot!

I have a quick question. I did the old original method of changing the boot video where you had to download the video, change the window size in a notepad type program, etc. How do I undo all that so I can use this method?

is there anyway to make video thumbnail previews show on steam deck its really annoying when you see img files show previews but video files dont have preview icons
