@@lukenowlandfilms I personally always thought Wine Is not an Emulator was a Linux back handed sarcasm, but after looking up the difference between the two I am now educated, Personally they both share similarities so I also call them both emulator before now as technically a Layer emulates the Windows API's but are not using the official DX12 code, Emulating I now know is a hardware layer, while a compatibility is copying the software on hardware the same like in a VM. As for the 800p making the performance up lift that is right to a point. Is it possible the game don't support such low resolution's well. Is it made of the Codemasters Engine or have EA ruined it? The original Grid hated certain screen types. also didn't go above 720p without a memory mod. Games will break as they are updated as the game will change with updates. One of the losses of Codemasters selling out to EA is they often built Linux native version of the Games like Grid Autosport and Dirty Rally etc. EA will not entertain Native Linux games. That why I myself am a bit Ying-Yang when it come to proton. It is great but why will anyone now Make Linux native games if Windows one port via Proton. It is the same with my DJ gear many people use Wine but I will keep on pushing for them to build a Linux version with Controller sound Cards drivers baken in like of Windows Version, I can run it wine but latency on live music is key and both the Mac OS layer or Wine just are not tight enough for a live performance. It why Next buy is a gaming laptop for £790 currently with a 3050 ti in it. Because Windows Gaming is just better some times and I need my DJ gear to now be mobile. As for my last Windows rig it is broken down and getting sold of this week hoping to upgrade my Linux Rig from a 2200G to a 5600G or maybe after the 4th a 5700G if the price is right. Intel 12th are appealing but I biased to AMD as we all understand they support us more than Intel do. I old so I like to play 2D games and light indie games so Vega 8 is fine for me, but the 2200G compute is utter crap, last program I had to make because a RPM or Flatpack was unavailable, and I hate Snaps and App images it took me over 3.5 hour to build the Mac OS project and compile their github code. Haven't done any Pro coding since 2005 when I wrote and finished my First and last Python program (Crappy language I like old skool C and Basic the best). Thankfully since moving to Linux 5 years ago now I haven't brought any Windows only games on steam and all my games are DX11 and never get updated anymore which is good as I used to spend silly money on new AAA titles.

OH, also proton is not an emulation layer :) It's built from WINE, which literally stands for Wine Is Not an Emulator.

This pretty much. Steam Deck renders to a much lower resolution. Additionally, performance in the game when I tried it in the initial tutorial race was actually really good. Games hard-locking is completely different to performance.

Steam deck is very comparable to the RX460, often beating it in most verified games. On top of that, minimum requirements for pc games are made with 1080p resolution in mind. The Steam Deck can play games with higher min requirements because it only has to render to a 800p display.

Absolutely. The more games that work, the better.

@@catsinbed7634 I honestly don't remember for Grid Legends but it loaded up. As the video shows this, it's unplayable.

It is absolutely nothing to do with the recording, as it's done with a capture card. GRID Legends was very broken at the time of recording. Many other people reported the same issues on Steam Deck and Desktop. For Steam Deck, recent updates have improved it.
