It's hard to say without looking at and understanding all the code that goes into Proton. A lot of the time, games are mentioned specifically because while Proton was updated those are the known games with the issue. However, sometimes they do also add specific configuration for certain games to work around issues. So it's a bit of both.

Glad to see that Halo Infinite is getting Deck updates, but I still hope that the anti-cheat software in MCC gets patched to work on Deck.

The devs did say they were definitely working on it. Just that it's a backburner project since Infinite is taking most of their time and attention

1:20 does Microsoft flight simulator work I thought you had to use Windows. That's huge if it works on steam os under experimental proton

Gaming on Linux can you do a video on the gameplay of Microsoft flight simulator. I've heard some controls don't work properly and runs like a turd. That info I got was from months ago so a video would be greatly appreciated. I really don't want to waste 60$ on a game 🥺🥺🥺

They will definitely change their minds after holidays when so many people will have Steam Decks that it makes it profitable for them.

You would think that valve will just make it so games launch in the correct compatibility it’s a pain to have to go in and change it per game especially for people who are new to PCs this is meant to be an easy way to play pc but still you have to download proton gb and other stuff to make games work that’s not right

Valve do set games to use specific versions, but games keep updating and changing and breaking because devs aren’t testing for Steam Deck.

I've just set mine to default to experimental. That way it's always up to date. I've not found any games that work with older versions and then break with experimental.

when you launch a game using experimental, if there is an update, you will get it automatically, it will also update automatically from time to time

They are just like any other item in your Steam library that’s installed.

Anyone know how to launch Transformers: Devastation? It's my favorite game but didn't work with avaialble protons (including GE) 😢
