All this verified/playable stuff and I still have only had 1 game not work out of 68 bought since I got my deck. Dont pay any mind to this. Proton is amazing. Plus Valve refunds with no issues.

Valve definitely don't refund without issues all the time. If you do too many refunds they complain at you and eventually deny you. I've seen it myself. How many is too many? Only they know, they don't say but say if you pick up a whole bunch and go to play each and refund a couple - you might find you have issues.

Wow! So Wikipedia claims the PS2, the most popular console ever, has 4379 games. Now playable+ on Steam Deck dwarfs that library.

For someone who plays a lot of single player games... I can't even count how many unknown and unsupported games I just play flawlessly on the Steam Deck. I actually never look at the verified status, because I just treat the system like it would be Windows. I think I have stumbled upon one or two games that didn't work. I currently have 80 games installed.

I think the varied systems alright but even as someone who doesn't really own a new console or even a PC other then a few raspberry pi's and mini classic consoles even I can make it work and to that end it's probably actually better than we all think. Plus I get playing with raspberry pi's sort of helps as they're mainly Linux but still

I hope game developers will start tweaking their games to play better on The Steam Deck, like having larger/easier to read text windows. Also, Vampire Survivor is a recent example of a popular game does not have to have the latest edgy graphics.

Horizon Zero Dawn still shouldn’t be verified. It has massive frame drops regardless of settings, once you get further into the game. It was fun at first but then I stopped playing after 8 hours in because of the frame drops/stuttering.

I totally agree with you, a lot of verified games don't work and unsupported do, and things will get worse when the steam deck 2 successor comes out, because they will have to either support both and two twice the testing or abandon the first one for the verified process. I hope valve can maybe hire more people to test games and keep doing testing when there are complains :/

@@proceduralgames yeah that's true but the problem with that for example, the witcher remake will use UE5 which is really heavy , if the steam deck 2 hypitetically can barely hit 30 and the steam deck 1 can barely 20( as an example ) it means is not playable, so there has to be 2 different verification process, in regards with proton it will be the same but it specs an performance it won't and that's also important

Easy to imagine Valve using a similar architecture so deck 2 and then deck 3 would be more like ps4 to ps4 Pro to ps5. Better specs should mean nearly all verified are playable.

The Steam Deck has definitely rekindled my love for gaming. There are several games I own both on XBox and PC and I find myself continuously choosing the Steam Deck and 720p, over my 4K Series X, just because it feels so nice so just be able to pick up the Steam Deck and continue where I left off. Also, The Steam Deck uses a lot less power than an XBox + TV, especially since I usually play the games lowered to give me 4-6 hours of battery life, so in these times where power is expensive, I can play the same games, at a tenth of the price.

I would like for there to be a "Valve" and a `Community" status for these verifications. You could write it off as Valve was able to verify at a particular moment, but the community found issue(s) and possibly those issues became apparent after an update.

The second game I tried on Deck (Return of the Obra Dinn) was (and is) verified, but you can't read half the text in the game. I've warned about it more than a month ago and it seems it's not interesting. I got quite a bad aftertaste about that, as we can't trust that sign, we can only try or search for other gamers before buying.I hope the new games added are tested better, as to me is worse a false OK than a longer time as not supported.

Verified still has a ways to go, but I think they should start with working with Devs on an easier way to popup the keyboard for text entry. I feel there are LOADS of games out there that are only Playable because they don't bring up the keyboard by themselves.

so one of the main reasons i was willing to pay the near 600 quid for it (im a carer so i dont really get that much money, despite technically been in full time work and been on call 24/7/365 i get the equivalent of less than minimum wage so the deck was a really big item that took me months of saving to get) i was willing to do it as every other system ive ever owned ive had like 1 or two games for, the switch was my non pc system with the most games at something like 12 games meanwhile because of how cheap PC games are and how many games get given away places like Epic i have got well over 1k games (i think the little kid in me just had his head explode at hearing this because back when i was like 10 he one had 2 games and a few demo discs to last the hole life of the PS1, i actually still own them two games Suikoden and Final fantasy 7) now not all of them games are good or even playable but if im talking only games i want i still have at least 300 games so the deck will give me them games back (im quite often too ill to sit at my PC and play games, but thanks to the deck i can still play them from my bed)

2:12 so im told that Elite Dangerous is 100% playable on the deck (i can't get the system to accept that i actually own the game so i wouldnt know) but Steam has it marked down as completely unplayable, it makes me wonder how many other games are incorrectly marked?

What I don't understand about the people saying the steam deck is underpowered is that they forget about the switch, that console was very underpowered when it launched, and to this days is still in production and sell millions, so hardware power doesn't mean that much if it runs the software in a satisfactory manner, also the steam deck is a PC, diferent than the switch, you can scale the graphics and framers te to fit your needs, if the hardware and software allows it

To put that into perspective in console terms, the PS2 had just over 4,000 games. Original Xbox had about 1,000 games. PS3 had 2,561 games. Xbox 360 had 2154 games. PS4 had 3,274 games. Xbox One had 2,949 games. For the Steam Deck to have over 6,000 games before it's even been out for a year is incredible, and that's not even counting the thousands of titles that work fine even though they're not verified.
