It's interesting to see all the micro stutter: 13:20-13:23 13:30-13:32 around 13:34 14:06 when the door blasts open and 14:08 just after I stopped looking after that. Do you think that in the next couple weeks patches will come out to address all of that? Also are you playing with controller or keyboard and mouse? I've found controller to be massively glitched (haven't tried it on windows, so not sure if it's manjaro specific or not).

@@tomh4396 Interestingly, the shader cache gets updated regularly for me as well (not the game itself), and the download file becomes bigger as well. It was about 170 Mb at launch, now it's more than 230 Mb. But this cache can only be built by actually playing the game so you encounter all the shaders it uses as they get compiled to SPIR-V by DXVK for future use. You can't, in general, precompile the D3D shaders ahead of time as Liam said before because they're stored in the game resources in whatever proprietary format the developer chooses. So Valve somehow collects that cache and pushes it back to us, either someone at Valve plays the game OR it's uploaded by Steam itself from the actual players (us), merged/compared (so there are no cheats like wallhacks or broken shaders) and then published for everyone to download. SPIR-V binary format is standardized so it's the same for any driver version and vendor which is the best thing. You don't need to recompile shaders anymore at every driver update and you can use the technique described above to collect and redistribute the shader cache for smooth rendering in non-native titles. I'd love to know more as it's a pure speculation of course.

Thing is...it's received an update and has eliminated the stutter (at least for me), would recommend you try it again, I personally forgot I was even on linux because there wasn't anything I could see specific to linux that was an issue. Now onto level 2 on legendary *sigh*.

@@tomh4396 It's not a distribution issue, as I just tried to explain.

@@gamingonlinux Ah, so you don't think it'll be properly patchable (at least for manjaro/arch)? I found level 2 (didn't go past the courtyard) to be even worse stutter wise. Presuming that's true you think that's true of all distros (thinking about popOS in particular)?

The stutter is because it wasn't designed for Linux, so shaders are getting made into a cache constantly as it's loading new bits in. It eventually smoothens out. It's a problem with the majority of Steam Play games because it's a compatibility layer so it can't do the shaders ahead of time like a proper port would.

You should have started the footage recording at the start when you get a weapon. The fps isn't great either. Most pointless "gameplay" video ever when the majority of it was pre rendered cutscences and listening to Johnson

Do you have to log into Xbox every time you start the game, or does it remember your credentials?
