Thats why you stick to stable. If you read the preview patch notes, page 7135, it clearly states selecting this preview update will increase the odds of your console turning into a brick by 87.43% with 13.2% chance of melting your scrotom.

You have no idea how long ive waited to use a switch pro controller normally in the steam menu, without fking the b button exiting everything. I can finally use the same fucking button command placement as the steam deck. Thank Gabe!

@@johnfrankster3244 It was available in gaming mode as well. However, the UI was a bit buggy and you had to scroll down a bit in the controller section to find the option.

Its always been an option in steam or in gaming mode for nintendo controllers? I know it was an option in big picture. I never recall a gaming mode option to reverse the layouts even after syncing the switch pro controller. Its something id enquired about long ago & got no reply.

The Switch Pro Controller always had this option in Steam. It's only a new feature for all the other controllers now.

@@undatedpeak1829 SD installs are pretty fast, you won't notice any speed issues, provided you get the right card. I got this one, if it helps: SanDisk 1TB Extreme UHS-I microSDXC

I'd recommend an SD card with the btrfs compression mod. Works like a charm, just make sure you get a fast 1TB SD card.

I did it before even powering on my 64GB model deck. Got mine off of eBay and worked out perfectly! Make sure you follow a guide and have that SteamOS ready on USB before doing the switch. Good luck!

"dual boot decker" here yeah tried to attempt the preview some how steam os got totally fragged i suspect its to do with windows boot order windows obviuosly taking command in 1st place no matter the partition placement in the drive (very annoying windows start by defualt) basically when steam os was to restart it instead started windows then steam os started once more and now i could enter the 3.4 i did the above happend again and boom it was fragged

I love the Steam Deck Hardware but Steam OS sucks ass. I have 3 games that run everything else simply refuses to launch. Currently writing with Support why that is and if i install Windows everything works but Valve dosent support the Steam Deck Controller on Windows and there are no driver i can install so games recognize it. Glossy just sucks. I want to install a driver and have it viewed as a Xbox Controller. So at this point i am not sure if i made the right choice to buy a Steam Deck. I love the Hardware but the Software sucks in my experience.

@@PokeBurnPlease I'm happy for you <3. Also keep in mind you can enable the steam OS UI for big picture mode in steam, So you can keep the nice interface and still run windows. Personally I really enjoy steam OS and I haven't had any issues but I don't play many multiplayer games. So far there's only been one game that will probably never get fixed for me and it's a rerelease anyway

@@ShartsInTheAir i found the perfect way to use my steamdeck by now. Dualboot windows 11 with steam os. STEAM Os for emulation and windows for gaming. Also found a was to emulate it being a xbox controller.

I wish valve would release the vibrant colour scaler instead of having to run a plug in. I tried side loading it and it seems to cause issues with the steam running desktop mode. So had to format my deck to get better performance.

even when it gets outdated, you will end up with an emulation beast and great device to run indie games or flat out leave it docked as a replacement pc to send e mails surf the web watch videos etc! If they ever announce a Steam deck 2, this time around I won't FK up and will definitely pre order the second it's possible to do so lol

All you guys are the reason I bought a steam deck for the hype now 2 days in, I’m thinking what the hell is this rubbish!! It’s garbage man! Yeah it’s a cool thing! But my god the switch shits on the deck in terms of gaming! It’s laggy! The resolution is pretty trash, it basically is a wannabe switch that try’s to target 60fps but can’t do it well it can but with massive input delay which makes it bad to play. Great for emulation ! But that’s about it. Imma console gamer wanted a little taste of pc gaming…… yeah I got it. Still to consoles lol

@@SwitchOnTheDeck Using the steam deck as a plug-in console requires a bit more work. You can hook it up to the extern display but make sure fsr is on. 720p and upscale it. Not the best but pretty decent Hell using a PC sometimes take a little more tinkering to get it running properly. take ya time and have a bit of patience protondb is your friend or stick to verified/playable games and tweak things but to the settings you like.

@@starlightSEGA actually! No I take it back! That’s weird so the first game I got today was the new bendy and the ink machine when I booted it up this morning it looks horrendous ! Blocky ! But I saw a guide saying run with proton 7 which I did and all the screen was multi coloured! But now Iv used a different proton and everything is working and looking great…… I am not a Linux user and have no idea about protons and all that language. But yeah the image actually looks pretty decent now

If the deck was 1080p handheld 45-60 fps I think it would be worth it. But 720p handheld barley doing 60 meh the switch is better even tho I know it’s only 30

No sadly I have series s and a ps5, Iv had the steam deck like I said 2 days, Iv got windwaker hd on it which is cool! But in Terms of games…. Well I think they look super low res! And realistically what exclusives on pc are their that are worth having a steam deck? Not many. Most the top notch games are on gamepass or ps. I just really don’t think it’s worth owning when I have them. If you don’t own a console it’s defo worth it I’ll say that.

The steam deck is my entry to pc gaming and the one thing I’ve been most Impressed by is steam they genuinely care about their products and consumers the steam store is a god sent never seen so many consumer friendly discounts I’ve been really surprised…coming from consoles I don’t expect to have such a Better experiences👑😇

the latest update screwed up my deck. wish i could revert back, they should allow that kinda stuff. my non steam games stopped launching even with proton. sifu & mod organizer are two examples even though i readded through steam & enabled proton GE & added C++ launch options. GTA 4 also had the same issue, but miraculous that one started working. Cemu stopped as well, but had to manually add it back to fix it. overall very strange one, will keep testing. if it's not broken, don't update.

One thing I would like is an option to center the mouse when using gyro to emulate mouse movements. That way you let go it snaps back to the center, this is really helpful in some games
