@@ShaneRounce Been using Moonlight since It was named Limelight (2015) a lot has changed and improved, you are correct It was not very related to your comment, just pointing It out because a lot of people just throw "Moonlight is better" and walks away and It grind my gears (not saying that you did) but really I just end up using Steam Remoteplay because is plain simple and you are not depending on Nvidia whatsoever, limiting the bandwith/FPS in remoteplay config just like Moonlight does gives you almost the same stability :p

Going to see if I get better Remote Play performance if I connect directly to the "mobile" hotspot on my PC vs letting it go via the router. Moonlight has no issues but I suspect that's where my Steam Remote Play fails (it's super choppy and audio laggy as all hell). Moonlight even handles streaming Valhalla to my Vita just fine. :)

@@Nanotechnician That's not entirely related to my comment but don't most PC gamers run a GPU that's under 10 years old? GTX600 series dropped in 2012. All modern GPUs laugh at Moonlight.

Have your Steam Deck on, install steam on your notebook, where you'd typically select a game to install; select the down arrow and select stream from steam deck. I used this from my desktop to my surface tablet with a ps4 controller. Might have to play with the steam remote settings but this should get you going.

Do you find you have a consistent experience streaming from the Wayland desktop via steam? Streaming seems to be extremely game dependant, whether or not I launch steam with the pipewire flags.

Interesting. I never came across this bug. What stopped me from using my steam link instead was the transition from xserver to Wayland on my Ubuntu host. The Big Picture UI simply wouldn't render at all, leaving me to stare at a black screen. However, once I started a game, streaming would work again just fine. Does anyone know whether this has changed?

Holy crap., I owned an original steam link (the device) - and I stopped using it eventually because of this bug, it made it effectively useless for people with linux desktops. I was even one of the reporters of the original bug ! I can't believe they finally fixed it after all these years, I had long ago given up on it ever being fixed !

I am happy to see they are fixing all the Linux related issues bit by bit, in a few months I al hoping all will be resolved. The main one I am seeing is that the dynamic resolution scaling is not working, so I have to manually adjust the resolution when streaming to the Steam Deck and TV. Would also love the ability for the Steam Deck to wake up the PC like the Steak Link can. Luckily it all being Linux, everything is easily fixable with various tools and scripts :)

I haven't had a chance to stream from my PC long enough to experience this due to aspect ratio mismatch, even with "Change desktop resolution to match streaming client" enabled, noted in issue # 6577. Would love to have awareness brought to it so streaming is viable to those of us who have an ultrawide and don't want to manually change the host's resolution.

@@gamingonlinux Black screen issue. Video doesn't output to the steam deck from the Linux desktop PC, just audio. The only semi fix that works is launching steam via the pipewire command in the terminal but that solution is quite stuttery and there is this green bar at the bottom on the screen also. And the output ignores the device request for 120fps output also and locks at 60fps. From my reading online it may be a Wayland issue but then I have tried to switch to X11 on the host and the same issues occur so not sure what to say. Maybe an issue with AMD mesa drivers? Haven't tried proprietary but I don't know if that would fix it. I remember when I first switched to Linux on pop OS with my Nividia 3000 series card remote play seemed to work fine then on X11. That was also over a year ago now. For my system it's Fedora KDE with a 6000 series card and 5000 series and cpu.

I got it working on Linux, but the performance is really questionable, I get about 150 FPS and then when I start streaming I'm more like around 85, which sounds great. But since I'm streaming at 120 HZ it looks like crap. Similar problem on Windows but not quite as bad, I think it has to be related to rendering the game on the monitor at the same time as the client device, I swear, I moved the window off screen and the frame rate jumped from 80 to 140 FPS, and now I can't repeat that result, even turning the monitor off while playing doesn't give that performance boost. Wierd, also, I should mention I get phenomenal performance when streaming to my VR headset, it's just the tablet streaming that has the issue
