@@gamingonlinux Great Videos friend. your faster than Valve telling me the dock is ready! As soon as I saw your upload, I jumped to place the order. Would this dock also include the charger? Does JSAUX come with one? $89 is high, but a price for "first party". Also ChaosVania, perhaps tighter supply chain than JSAUX. Given the track record for backdoors, I'm hesitant for buying. It doesn't mean the SD dock doesn't have supply components that are not of risk, just likely lower.

The advantage to having a steamcontroller that matches the steamdeck layout is that you can maintain the same control schema between handheld and couch gaming. There isn't another controller on the market that matches its inputs so without one, you either have to juggle control mappings for games that you utilize them in, or you have to universally map to the lowest common denominator which leaves off a lot of functionality.

@@TheAkashicTraveller yeah thats probably why they had thousands of them to trash at 10 bucks a piece. I have one, since Im always curious of new controllers, and nah, the form factor is terrible for anythin but big hands, the feel is slippery, and the control scheme completely unnatural (unless you're already into weird control schemes). Again, I know there are fans, but sayin everyone who tried loved it is, frankly, laughable. That'd mean the controller had great reviews everywhere and no one bought it lol

The Steam Controller had two big problems: 1. The build quality was poor. I have one and it feels cheap, the buttons are a bit mushy. The ergonomics leave something to be desired as well. 2. Only one thumbstick. The touchpad simply can't replace a traditional thumbstick, even with the fancy haptics they put into it. The Steam Deck shows that Valve learned their lesson on both of these points. The build quality is fantastic with good ergonomics, and there are two thumbsticks in addition to the touchpads. If they made a Steam Controller 2 using the same layout as the Deck (two thumbsticks, two touchpads, the four paddles on the back, etc), I think it would be very successful.

Let's fire the $20 premium over the combo you mentioned, its a Valve product! There is product support from Valve themselves, its a first party solution with their warranty and quality control, there are inherent benefits to the product so its not just a $20 cash grab, etc. Lastly, look at what Valve is offering in terms of replacement parts with ifixit. What other company is willing to offer that level of product support? In this respect, I would much rather support Valve than some random brand off of Amazon. Edit: forgot to mention, for the combo, you have to deal with one or more companies' customer service for issues - big hassle trying to troubleshoot issues.

Was going to say the same thing. Some are complaining about the price but the power supply makes it much less of a hit. You can get other hubs and docks cheaper, but when you add on the price of having to buy another power supply, which most docks and hubs don't include, it comes out to about this same price. My only concern is that they said they are going to ship the same 45w power supply with the dock and I worry about if the overhead of the dock and any peripherals is too high, will it cause the deck to discharge while you play because the PS can't keep up with everything. Also, yes please to the Steam Controller 2. I want one to play on my main PC so I don't have to rewire my brain to the different control scheme every time I play a game on it that I have been playing on the Steam Deck. Ideally, the same layout and inputs as the steam deck. Running the same steam input with modal options.. radial menus on track pads.. etc.

How about Valve shouldn't have to focus on cases for 3rd party cases, you can put a powerbank in the back right now, and what's the point of a screen in a case? You lose the effectiveness of the said case for both the Steam Deck and the hypothetical screen and the screen can be barely bigger than what the Steam Deck offers. Gotta keep your expectations realistic.
