I got the sims 4 from fitgirl repacks for my partners kids , cost nothing as it cracked , it has all 59 dlc packs , EA are a joke

When starting the game, it seems to require an internet connection, which means that I have to know in advance that I want to play it on the deck when I take it with me. Apart from that, it runs really good.

I'm a bit concerned any time any game goes free to play - monetization has ruined plenty of games. That said, with The Sims 4 already having loads of DLC, maybe it won't need further monetization? We'll see, I guess.

Watch out! I have found issues that will delete the save data on linux. My gf is especially cursed. The save data seems to be gone every time she reboots the computer. I lost my data on my laptop once. That happened after changing proton version.

Sims 5 should cut down on dlc and put alot in base game and make it like sims 2 where you can directly control the character

Yeah I was excited when it was becoming free and even more that I wouldn’t be losing all my DLC. Runs perfect on my Steam Deck and you can even put mods in from the desktop mode. I already have mods into it and works like a charm, it’s awesome!

Where do you put The mods on the steam deck isit the same way you would it on a pc ?

It’s the only reason why I bought my steam deck lol I basically only play the sims on it and I got the deck with the most memory HHaha I have almost all the packs as well sorry not sorry 😅

The Unrecognized video card message is usually seen if you have a newer PC or card that hasn't been added yet which is usually seen if you have an older version of The Sims 4. This is also seen in The Sims 3 and The Sims Medieval if the card is too new for the game. I am guessing the message shows up could be due to the game not updated to detect the Steam Deck's GPU which could suggest that EA isn't aware of the Steam Deck. I don't know if it also happens on a Steam Deck that's running Windows 10/11 which could be due to the Deck's GPU not being added, or if it happens with other desktops/laptops running Linux. I don't know if EA will fix this in an update especially since EA hadn't expected people to be playing The Sims 4 on the Steam Deck let alone Linux. Still, it's interesting that the running The Sims 4 on the Steam Deck triggers the message.

So try installing it through Steam, completely different experience. You Are on a Steam Deck aren't you? why go to Origin and not use the Steam version?

It's no longer working on steam deck! Proton experimental didn't help. Seems like EA launcher broke it again. Can anyone else confirm it is now broken!

It's due to the EA app, which works fine in Proton Experimental. I'm not sure why Valve hasn't just set it to the EA games by default, like they've done for others.
