Well, it is often a case of the people at the top screwing the developers, crunching them, pushing out dates that are too early etc. But in this case...is it an example of just a developer also in over their head? Hard to tell.

@@Matendu Your absolutely right. I rented it and played a good 6-7 hours. Somehow 🤷‍♂️ The only time I ever ran into enemies was in preset crime locations. Think the boring random side crimes in Spider-Man games. That's it. Sure, you can run into GCPD and fight them, but their damage sponges, tear you to shred with guns, and give you no XP or anything. So no reason to interact with them. The game is just straight boring, with the exception of some of the story missions I ran. Oh, and if your anything like me and enjoyed the predator stealth portions of the Arkham games, there is none of that here. Sure, they tried, lazily, and failed miserably at it too. I get the game isn't an Arkham game, but its just a bad game all around.

But it’s not low tier though it’s actually the same hardware as the Xbox series s with more ram and half the tflops so really it’s not bad and with games running at a much lower resolution it removes a lot of the gpu load so it should perform fine

The GPU utilization seems kind of low in some of those scenes. Did you see what frequency the GPU maxed out at and manually set it to a higher frequency to see if that helped?

I can't help but question how much of the performance troubles are due to Denuvo and how much for subpar optimization (from your rant, none at all!). And knowing you have a pretty decent main rig, Liam, did you try it out there? Was performance still as bad (all proportions considered)?

My 3080ti on max settings with ray tracing off and dynamic resolution off is getting 175-215 fps with occasional drops so bad that the game becomes a still image for a split second. Granted that only happens once every 10-15 mins.

I've noticed a trend of allegedly AAA games coming out and they're laughable unfinished, unrefined and sometimes unplayable. I don't know what gamers can do to stop developers being this greedy, but it's getting very annoying. Games are coming out that i'm very excited for, but i'm aftaid to get my hopes up and Gotham Knights was one of them.

This game runs like garbage even on machines with elite specs. Looks like it won't run well on anything and isn't exactly a good experience even if the performance issues were resolved.

I can get it to run very well on my desktop PC with raytracing turned off and it's generally been running at 60+ fps. But on the Steam Deck, it's a hot mess. Runs better indoors, but unfortunately other problems get in the way and it has crashed or locked up on me several times. Hopefully they fix things...on all platforms.

the game absolutely needs a performance patch. Seems like the game does not utilize the GPU as well as it should. this is both Steam deck and PC rigs... traversing the open world makes the game chug. I've actually seen the steam deck performed better than some other peoples desktops. steam deck manages 15-20fps while i seen a desktop drop to 4FPS lol

I disagree with you! The game runs very well on my 6900xt. It also runs good on my Steam Deck with FSR 2.0, graphics low and locked to 30fps. And yes IGN sucks very bad at reviewing… that’s not news…

Most games aren't developed for te steam deck or low end devices. Most newer games don't really care that much about optimising their software and keeping the file size small.

Can I just ask though, this game runs on a Steam Deck, graphical problems aside for a moment? The reason being that I am getting a basic Steam Deck next month, I figured that I could use it as a second PC system, and this game, on paper, shouldn't run on the Steam Deck due to the system requirements. The fact that it run's at all, regardless of performance, on a hand held AMD APU based PC is an achievement in itself. That is a first in PC gaming history.

Yeah this game is something else even on a high powered desktop PC it runs like absolute garbage. I know of this one YouTuber who has a 4090 and he can't get 60 fps in certain areas. Plus this game makes Arkham Knight look like a GOTY candidate.
