I found that ""Disk Usage Analyzer" (also in Discover) was a little easier to read since it provided a hierarchy in addition to the graph. Also I didn't have to mess with any of the flatpak permissions and I was just able to select the root directory of the SD card.

@@gamingonlinux On a somewhat related note, I ran into space issues because I had copied all the games I intended to install from my PC to an external hard drive in anticipation of receiving the Steam Deck. When I copied the files from the external hard drive to the internal storage/SD card, I wasn't left with enough room to "install" the game. Since Steam compares how much actual free space you have available and compares it to how much the download will need, it prevented me from installing the game.. so a bit of a PSA for people trying to do that. Also it's important you actually keep track which games you haven't had steam install yet otherwise they'll just consume a bunch of space and won't be available to play.
As I type this out, maybe it might be a good idea for a video on how to do that since there's a couple of gotcha there? Also, I don't think a lot people know that you can even do that and that it potentially save them a lot time.

Weird, it shouldn't able to access anything extra by default unless you had something setup previously perhaps, as Flatpak applications are sandboxed by default. I checked over Disk Usage Analyzer on the Flathub GitHub, and they don't give it any permissions to anywhere else except the main host files...
Edit: actually, I *think* they have set it up like that, curious. Either way, I prefer Filelight myself :)

RPCS3 will use a LOT of internal space, even if using bluray versions that are on the SD card. Games install all that extra stuff where the app is installed. Some games are just a few hundred MBs. but others will install several GBs. We need an option to install the app on the SD card.

Could you do a simple test that I've been curious about?
For years Steam on linux has been eating laptop batteries. I typically lose like 2 hours of battery life when steam is running on my laptop.
Could you run an idle battery life test on desktop mode with steam open vs steam closed, just too see how much of the deck's battery life steam is shaving off?

Thanks homie. Was wondering why my “Other” space was 32 GBs when I only had like maybe ~4 GBs of stuff that fell under that category (assuming the Proton versions are part of “Other”)
I take it that the Shader Cache and Compatdata folders are important? I’m kinda brand-new to Linux and my Deck so I apologize if this stuff is simpler than it seems 😅

Now I'm following some guides on moving these folder to my SD card (which I dont switch out - I actually velcroed a a dongle to the deck for a second SD card so I have 2 TBs)
