What a nice video, keep up the good work !

Fresh out of college, and starting work for a few months, I can begin to understand why you guys don't wanna game at your desk. My personal laptop stays beside the office laptop, and sitting there playing games feels like working, it's weird and I begin to hate my comfortable chair. Jumping on my bed and getting comfortable, holding the game in your hand is so much more surreal than holding a mouse or even just a controller. Amazing video, would love to hear more.

Well i don't work a job so I have no prob sitting and gaming at my desk but I do love mobile gaming. Ps vita was one of the best systems of all time. Steamdeck is just too dam big

Ordered my Steam Deck so I can grind for more tedious achievements on the couch rather than at my desk. Now I can farm xp on my couch next to my wife rather than in a corner. The Switch changed how much gaming I can do and still have quality time with the Mrs and now I have my Steam library to do the same thing. Luckily Q1 and just bought a 1tb micro sd card so I don't have to sweat over space!

The deck revitalised my PC gaming life. It was getting harder and harder to boot up the PC after a long day of work and spending time with the family. I'm also glad I don't have to go to upstairs to my gaming rig and be away from the family to get some gaming in. We can literally hang out on the couch together.

The steam deck is for the hardcore gamers turned responsible adults, we don’t have the time to go sit in front of our rig.. so I can play this on the couch or in the bed with the wife.

Proof that handheld gaming was always great from the gameboy all the way to the deck

I don't have a Deck yet but I'm sure I'm going to be spending a lot of time on it. I'm having the exact same problem. I've been working from home for the past 2 years ever since the pandemic started, and it's absolutely destroyed the pleasure of sitting down at my PC gaming rig at the end of the day. I finish the work day and all I want to do is escape my PC, and I find myself spending all my time on my laptop. I even tried getting two separate PCs, one for work and one for fun, and the outcome is now I just avoid both of them and spend almost all my free time on my laptop laying in bed or sitting in my sofa, or sitting outside. I got a RTX 3060 Ti going to waste while I game on a laptop that burns a hole in my lap if I run anything more demanding than space invaders on it. I think until my lifestyle changes again, I'm gonna be a lot more inclined to do handheld or portable form factor gaming.

These are the kind of discussions that make me extremely happy that Valve release the Steam Deck. It gives us the ability to enjoy our games in different situations like your bed, your couch, hell your toilet if you want. We can take the game that we’re playing at the computer and bring it to where we want to hang out, and continue having that same enjoyment.

As an old PC elitist I'm pleased to see Steam Deck casualizing (if thats a word) PC gaming market. Giving normies easy access and console like experience with reasonable price tag hopefully interests people enough try PC gaming. With more people having capable PCs, maybe we see devs putting more effort on PC ports (looking at Japanese companies). Kudos to Valve not trying to make Deck a walled garden. Deck is going to have value even as an emulation box for years to come. Hopefully they get supply chain issues sorted and machines to customers because I think this might be the biggest thing in PC gaming since 3D accelerated graphics.

With the throngs of console games getting pc releases (added to console rarity), I'm more/less circumventing console releases and looking more n more forward to the 'deck.

Hey Liam! I just wanted to say thanks for all the hard work and hours you have put in for your site. As someone that used windows on their desktop since windows 98se, and only used exclusively linux over the last few years, it was kinda hard transitioning the first year (especially as an avid gamer). Your news and guides made the transition much easier and more enjoyable and there's even some games that I bought that I first saw on your site. I really do appreciate what you've done for me and other linux gamers, and to that end I genuinely hope you're able to find a good balance between work and life and able to find some quality down time!

But that's watching a TV show. What he's talking about is how you feel like you're more in tuned with the game with the controllers and the screen in your hands. Guess you just have to experience it for yourself. But I would agree that watching movies on a smaller screen is not great.

Their are handheld gaming PCs out now that do the exact same thing (though not as good) so to call this a complete gamechanger is quite a stretch Imo, I guess this feeling of having AAA gaming on the go is what drove switch sales except now we replace nintendo games to PC games with updated hardware

I have a pretty high end PC with a 4k 144 hz monitor. But for me I feel like I can't truly enjoy that during the week due to how much I work. So at night when I get home, by the time I get done with dinner and all that it's a chore to get to my desk and decide on what to play. But with my steam deck I chill on the couch and can play the same games I'm playing on PC. And on the weekend when I'm more rested I can play them on my desktop

I hate having to be in a separate room playing my steam games from my wife. Just the fact that I can sit on the sofa with her, play my game while she watches her shows makes it worth 10x the price. I don't expect it to be perfect, just good enough
