Can anyone confirm that it works with Origin? My origin client doesnt seem to launch after I added the text in launch options :/ desperately trying to install mass effect :D I tried changing proton version but it didnt seem to help :/

@@hectormanuel8360 don't know if that's possible since anbox and waydroid require the ashmem & binder kernel modules i assume those aren't part of valve's kernel so valve would have to add them & anbox wasn't in the standard repos on arch back when i used arch it was in the aur by the name anbox-git & even then binaries weren't available it had to be compiled on device which i did i also installed linux-zen which has ashmem & binder built in after that it worked linux-zen is availible in the standard repos in binary form so you don't have to compile the kernel or the modules

Valve mentioned on their FAQ that the Deck can be used as a controller for your main PC only through Remote Play. Have you tested the practicability of this method , latency, ease of use/etc?

Remote play is awsome and I use it all the time. You must have a decent wifi mesh setup so you have good wifi in your home or work.

Can we copy files from steamapp games from PC and put them on deck? For some games, downloading twice is a pain. this can be good content. I think I wish there was a local download from the local network PC on steam so we can copy from our main rig and transfer the game file that way.

Traditionally LAUNCH OPTIONS for non-steam games have been mostly broken. I guess somebody got around to fixing that long outstanding bug (and the issue with the non-steam games adding incomplete paths initially)

I don't think either is fully fixed. The paths are still broken up if they include spaces, and the launch options seem to only work for environment variables with Proton. It seems the proton python launch script has special logic to parse these env variables but it doesn't seem to allow calling custom executables before the %command% placeholder

Is it possible to add something to the SD card as non-Steam game (not from a launcher like Epic/GOG)? I've copied already installed games from my PC (straight out of C:\Games) and they work on Steam as non-steam game, but I can only point to the Downloads folder on internal memory. Is the trick to add like it this and then just completely change the path later? Or does the launch option STEAM_COMPAT_MOUNTS=/run/media/mmcblk0p1/%command% automatically make it know how to find it?

I'm having a hard time getting this to work. I've followed the guide to the letter, but I can never launch the Epic Store. I can install it using the msi file downloaded from their site, then I go to change the target and "start in" options, but when I hit "play" nothing ever happens. Just stays on the Steam library page, nothing ever opens. There is currently no win64 folder since it's never even done the first boot of the store at all, just the same Win32 from initial setup. Any ideas anyone? Edit: just figured it out. Apparently I did not follow the guide "to the letter" as I thought. I was running from /home/doorstop/.local/ instead of /home/.local Once I switched over to the right directory it booted properly.

Do be warned- in my case this caused steam to think all my actual steam games where uninstalled and i had to show it where the library folders were again every time i used epic . Odd.

I was able to get the SteamDeck to see my SD card again, but now I have 3 game libraires -- the one on the Deck's SSD, the SD card that has no "games" on it, but "other", and the SD card library itself. Thanks again!

I know this is an old video but I just got my deck and I am wondering is there a way to get a controller to work with this. I am trying to use my xbox controller and it works fine until I start up Epic and then it won't respond to my controller, only the deck controls itself. Mind you if I go into the Steam menu my xbox controller works fine so it still connected to the deck.

as a quick note to anyone pulling a dumb like me: by default, all verified games on deck install to the SSD by default, and the SD card if they cant fit there automatically. you can manually move them to the SD card after theyre installed. was so confused this morning that epic said "i didnt have enough space", forgot i downloaded another verified game before bed last night lol. thanks for your work that other people are trying to rip off. started at a cnet video before backtracking to the PROPER source <3

I have a problem though, I don't have permission to write to the SD card (after doing the SD card steps). It does recognise the SD card and subfolders etc., I just dont have permission to install anything on it. Any idea how to change this? Ok, I was too quick in posting this. I found a workaround: open Epic Games Launcher in Desktop mode. Installing on SD card works in that case (for me on 14/12/23 with latest SteamDeck OS updates).

The way I made Fluffy recognize the filepath was adding a drive inside bottles Fluffy>Options>settings>Drives and set the directory of the drive to Steams common folder or something above
