There is literally an FTP server (with FTPS and SFTP support) in the Discover app, not requiring root and with a simple UI.

Thanks for sharing! Also, it should also use less battery and perform better than SCP for transferring files. SCP is great given it works over SSH but FTP is better for file transfers.

If you're on a windows machine and would like DARK MODE, WinSCP is a similar FTP client, open source, and starts in blessed dark mode. Setup screen is nearly identical to Filezilla so you can follow this video and still connect.

your sd card card is in run/media/mckfh54 (random caracters like that, the mcsomething is your sd card)

This is the way. Vault tested, method approved. I'm even chained through a powered USB Hub with Cat6e Gbit networking. Works flawless. Just transferred 512GB from Desktop to Steam Deck in under 4 hours vs 2 days. WiFi also works great and I dropped a movie to the Deck in minutes. 1/1/2023

PC game installs: "\Program Files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common" Deck game installs: /home/deck/.steam/steam/steamapps/common You can copy your game folders freely between them to save on downloading multiple times from the Internet. Surprised no one has mentioned this especially if you're on slow or limited data. I'm in a major city in the US and still stuck with 50mbit/sec download, which is maybe 20GB/hr if I'm lucky... Uncharted is 124GB, Anno 1800 is 87GB...! They took 10 minutes instead of 4 hours!

In your router settings, you can set any device on your network to keep the same IP. This is the local network IP it's using.

I stopped being lazy and just tried it myself 😃 I can confirm that it does still work once you return to gaming mode as long as sshd is still enabled so that it starts at bootup 👍

I was transferring a 19GB folder from my pc to my phone so I could put it on my steam deck. The file was taking 6+ hours 2 days in a row! It was crazy and I needed my phone back. I tried this method and all 16,125 files transferred over on about 30 minutes!

Just a heads up to anyone who may face the same issue as me. if you upgraded to an oled and just swapped the ssd so you didnt have to reinstall, youll still have to redo the konsole commands on the new deck.
