Actually i solved this by downloading the EA installer and then using run executable instead of using the launchers menu!

Would this stuttering include apps like lutris? I have seen some videos of gameplay through lutris and the stuttering is almost none despite the games having just been installed.

Yes it would include that. Any gameplay you've seen where it doesn't stutter they either cut the video to where they've run it for a while, or found and downloaded a pre-done cache from someone. This is 100% the actual out of the box experience, until it's been run for a while.

Since all steam decks hardware are the same, wouldn't pre-compiling shaders for these games work? It'd be a lot of work on the bottles side, but maybe in the future?

@@mar2ck_ I'm not sure if you know how dxvk works, but it takes the directx plain text shader code and does the same work an nvidia, amd or intel graphics driver would do. A classic gpu driver compiles it into gpu assembly that can run directly on the gpu hardware. At that point, the resulting assembly isn't protected by copyright anymore. dxvk compiles (or transpiles) the hlsl code into the SPIR-V bytecode. This is the point where the copyright isn't really applicable anymore. I think you're assuming that valve asked every single developer on their platform, wether they could use dxvk/proton to run their game on linux. But they certainly didn't. But they allow every program on steam to (try to) use proton to run on linux. In software copyright, despite other claims, is very limited. You can copyright source code, compiled code, images, data. But not compiled shaders, because the compilation is done outside the influence of the copyright holder.

@@mar2ck_ Yes, shaders a copyrighted, but only in their original form. If you compile them into SPIR-V, that copyright is lost. You can only copyright the code itself, never its logic or meaning. That's why valve is able to do it. OpenOffice wouldn't be able to exist, if you were right.

Shaders are copyrighted material so sharing them without permission is an infringement on the game's copyright. Valve are able to do it for Steam games because they already have the distribution licences for all the games. A non-official shader sharing service would be a legal mine field.

Another reason for games stuttering outside steam is that using desktop mod limits the CPU to only 4 cores so it's less CPU power in the desktop mode

that is not usually the problem, it mostly because in steam, it downloads the shaders from steam servers, whereas in other stores you dont get that.

I really appreciate these guides both for the steamdeck support, but also that these are also great for just general linux gaming. I'm on endeavorOS and this process simplifies the installation of a bunch of things. I had also recently run into the the flatpack not having access to external drives problem and didn't know about flatseal.

A bit late here, but yes you can manually add and/or install Windows executables to a bottle. You simply click on the "Run executable" button in the bottle and give it the file path to the program

I have this on the 512gb version and I run it on ultra and it runs just fine. Yes you get a little Stutter here and there but very playable bf1 even better. I’m in love with the deck I can’t believe I can play these game while I lay around. I highly recommend if you haven’t ordered one to do so. And it’s very comfortable on the hands.

Couldn't install the EA Launcher, it showed "Installer is not well configured." error, so tried Origin instead which seemed to have worked. Will check if games work as well.

Hi did you find a workaround for the log in screen crashing? I've installed as per the video and all seems to go well until I get to the log in screen where this just goes black and then eventaually closes. I've tried maybe 10 times with the same result eachtime. I've also tried running repair on the install with no change. Any help much appreciated. Thanks

Hi, after try several guides, I've always been able to install the shop but when I try to install a game in a different location than the default one (programfiles ...) I get an issue like I wouldn't have disk space... If I leave the default path is ok. Do you know how to solve this? I don't want use microSD I want to be able to install games in my path with the rest of games for example home\games\ Thanks a lot for your tutorial

After do everything again several times and restore the Steam Deck, I continue with the space issue. Is like EA Plus is checking the space in one of both 5GB partitions used by Valve to do the updates. I don't understand why is cheking the disk space there instead of the HOME partition... Any idea? This worked for me, but only for one game. When I tried installing a second game, it downloaded everything then gave me an error saying the installation failed once I got to verifying. Happened also when trying to install to internal storage and after restarting.
