@@DavideDavini well they kinda do, to some extent at least. the amount of bloat, nonsense that comes with it is unbearable tho. the performance decrease is unbearable as well, having to go through multiple tutorials online, nvidia control panel settings, power plan, ryzen power plan, etc etc JUST TO GET THE MAXIMUM FROM MY HARDWARE???? just recently i had to use a windows machine (some old ass software) and god fucking hell. i plugged my phone to extract some files later on that day, i updated it and it installed samsung dex cause earlier that day i plugged in a samsung phone. like ??? microsoft?

@@bloepje I have to confess that the last real interaction I had with Windows was with 7, on the desktop side. I have zero experience with 10 or 11. Although I have a VM running Windows 11 for Arm on my Mac, which I used, I think, 10 minutes total. Anyway, I’m rumbling. I was assuming that every game actually worked without much fuss there.

@@DavideDavini The same goes for if you install windows 11 or 10 You really have no clue which of the games will work or not. Obviously most of the new games. But the ones that steam deck has really no problem with, those might be a problem in Windows >= 10 .

@@joeysherrett well, not quite yet. I’d like it to be a real alternative where you don’t sacrifice anything. You pick just based off your personal preference. Right now you go in hoping that the games you like work. That’s not ideal at all.

Can confirm. You no longer have to worry if you have enough time to complete the mission. Just resume if you have few minutes of free time and it's just super easy to start. And it gave fresh air to old games because you gain more battery life.

Oh that is definitely an issue, however that issue appears on desktops too. The developer is working on a port to a modern game engine to solve performance issues :)

Interesting confession. Would be also interesting to tell us, what effects do has timeless gaming on it, on your hands/palms eyes etc. Specially the eyes are I think a critical factor since the screen is small and everything displayed on it is small too, no matter how good quality is the display.

I bought the Deck so I can play my games at Night Shift at the work. This extra playtime is really good for my massive backlog. The only problem is it doesn’t count playtime and sometimes achievements.

I don’t know where I fit in to the demographic audience of the steam deck. I have a switch, I have a PS4, I have an Xbox one and a £2000 - 2070S Max Q highly capable gaming laptop and I still ordered the steam deck for Q3?! Maybe I’m just a tech enthusiast. But I love everything about it’s functionality and popularising mobile gaming to an extreme level and I’m willing to support that. In many hears to come through technological advancements, people will look back in time with their portable gaming PC devices and remember that Valve Started a whole new wave with the steam Deck. Far from perfection of course but a step in the right direction for portable gaming making its identity known.

I think I fell in love with it so much as there were ‘leaks and rumours’ moments prior to an apparent ‘Nintendo Switch Pro’ reveal. Everyone was talking about it! And of course I (like many other people) was finding the Nintendo Switch very incapable and unappealing at the time given the fact of how outdated it’s hardware is. And it turned out to be a rumour in the end with the announcement of the Nintendo Switch OLED Model and that got me depressed that we weren’t getting a Pro Model as I had them expectations… …and that is when the Steam Deck got announced! What a lovely surprise after a poor effort on Nintendo’s part.

many people say they play games they normally wouldn't, that was me when I started using a wireless xbox pad on my desktop. It just opened up a world of gaming I wasn't interested in for KBM. Add in the casual anywhere in the house nature to the Deck and it it multiplies that. Especially if you were a KBM exclusive PC gamer, the deck will really open up a new world.

i've got a similarly addictive personality but even with a job, a house, a partner and social responsabilities, i'm looking forward to my q3 steam deck - because i am commuting 3h every day. i can't wait to play all the games in my library i never touched because i didn't think they were worth my time on pc, but on the train. though i still hope valve will implement a way to remind the gamer to get up and stretch or well, just stop playing. phone manufacturers start doing it, i think valve should, too.
