RT is not really feasible on the Deck. RDNA2 isn’t designed for that on a hardware accelerated level as far as I remember, and there’s just not enough GPU power there even if it did have RT capabilities.

Witcher 3 runs at a locked 30 fps in Ultra on Deck!!! But the battery life suffers. You can hit 60 in Low... But honestly, on games like this, on a device like the deck, I definitely prefer 30 fps with better graphical fidelity. With the gamescope ability to lock it at 30 fps, it feels incredible, very smooth, and you won't miss those frames. I think the best balance for decent looking smooth gameplay, with reasonable battery life, is Medium locked at 30 fps on Witcher 3... That's what I've picked anyway. And it's great. :) Hope this helps.

luxorpeda is for games that have a native source port, engine reimplementation, etc etc. VTMB doesn't have a native linxux version so proton would be your best bet.

Really nice to see gyro and trackpad gameplay! Looks like your trackpad sensitivity is set really low though, when you're using the gyro you don't need the trackpads as the precision option so you're able to crank that sensitivity way up to make it easy to do large camera swipes :)

I cannot even begin to measure the number of hours I spent playing this game back in the day & easily one of my GOAT. I haven't fired up UT in a very long time but when I get my Steam Deck, this will be top of the list.

It was the first game I actually built decent maps on. I remember making a beachhead TD map, and modifying the spawn points to only ever spawn one team. The editor was pretty fantastic and had you carve out geometry instead of adding a bunch of BSP brushes that you had to make sure didn't leak. The level editor alone gave me and my friends hundreds of hours of fresh play/lan time.

I want ETS with GYRO... meeh. With ETS you can use it to watch left and right for oncoming traffic. So you move the deck to the right to look at traffic from the right.

BTW It works fine with the already installed Proton on Steam Deck, no need to do the first steps, or even leave 'game mode' I have been playing it a lot. I used the already installed Proton Experimental from within the game mode. I did have to change the controller profile from the community one it had automatically selected, to the standard 'keyboard and mouse' one. again, from within game mode. Then the Right stick and trackpad both act as a mouse, so you can take your pick.

(Sorry, hope you don’t think I was being unnecessarily contradictory or overly critical, I just think for many, the ‘simplest’ option will be the best if the deck is to succeed… It will appeal to console users too.)

@@gamingonlinux Fair enough, works perfectly for me :) So I’ll carry on this way, with the engine I’ve used for 23 years without any issues. :) What exactly does the ‘new engine’ change out of interest? I’ve tried to look into it, but it seems to suggest it just improves stability etc, which is not something I’ve ever had an issue with on any system, from K6-2 550 to Ryzen 5000. I do use the DX rather than OpenGL though (which I noticed you used.)
