I love how one of the updates for SteamOS tells the user if they bought a fraudulent SD card with a fake reported storage space.

is the pin code also set for sddm or is it only for the deck ui?

you could see in the video there was a toggle to enable it for desktop mode and at login.

Did you start the update in game mode or desktop mode?

The most important thing about this update is: Mostly silent fan behaviour when using 10 watts or less. It's a great update and Valve does a tremendously good job at after sales.

Alot of pin codes is going to correlate to Tekken combo moves! :D

Does that screen switching mean that Chrono Cross is playable now? I think there was a launcher pop-up problem that prevented it from running.

@@gamingonlinux This is a big reason why I cam to you first. I don't want to waste 10 minutes for someone to tell me how they feel about the update, I just want to know what it its. I like a quick abridgement of the changelog, and if it takes you 10 minutes to tell me the 10 line items on the log, then I can spend 2 minutes and read them at the source... So thanks Liam, I appreciate your brevity. :)

I don't really like the unnecessary padding quite a few other video creators do. Not to put down any other creator, but I do it how I like to see it personally :)

Clearly Valve has someone watching your videos who saw my comment and updated the power usage just so you couldn't fulfill my request.

I'm on the Steam Deck Discord and this update has bricked a lot of devices, particularly from people who updated from desktop mode (bootloops, need to reinstall Steam OS from boot manager) but not only (blackscreen leading to RMA, can't even access the boot manager, screen stays off)), also the new fan curves seem to work temporarily, after a reboot it goes back to default for many, need to type a complicated command in a terminal apparently, something most of us Linux noobs have no idea how to do. I like my Deck, but I had no idea a Linux based device could have so many problems, don't update yours as soon as it's possible, wait a bit for people to confirm it's ok, apparently Valve must be out of Decks to do proper testing with all the RMAs they have to deal with /s

I am curious how the pin code login works with multiple accounts. I don't have a deck yet, and won't until "After Q3", but I am still curious about more information on multiple users. I know about library sharing, but it would be cool to have a video that shows as much as possible for the multi-user experience.

@@gamingonlinux Thanks for the update. I don't know how I feel about that though. I think I would prefer an optional user login screen on wake, but maybe that just isn't feasible. I am looking forward to when I can actually get my hands on mine in October-ish. I am sure much will have changed by then.

The pin is per-device, not per-account. So even with multiple accounts on Deck, it's the same pin.

Thank you for the brief and informative video, other channels have been dragging out the information over 10+ minutes

I’m actually not too bummed that I have to wait a while for my steam deck. Thankfully with all the updates by the time I get it in Q3 it’ll probably be a pretty smooth experience.

Awesome update, I have ten degrees more now in game but the fan stays silent and does not bother the people around me. The new profile gets lost on suspend tho what can be fixed with a systemd script that reloads fancontrol again.

Its great that Valve didnt just create SteamOS3 and left it as that. I wont them adding as many cool features as they can think of.

Do you take tutorial suggestions by any chance?

In elder Scrolls online I cannot use the new window switcher to switch to the launcher. I want to focus the launcher after launching the game to close it because I believe it interferes with my game performance.
