Nice to see Valve continually making the Steam Deck experience better. Sadly my first experience was a bad one, as my unit was defective. On the positive side, thought, Valve support proved to be very efficient, and I'm already waiting for a replacement. :)

@@gamingonlinux Thanks! It was really weird. My Deck had really low performance even in Steam, not speaking of running any games. And then, after every restart, it botted to the tty screen, and I had to re-image it again and again...

jeez are they going to bring any of the cool beta stuff to main releases any time soon? still waiting for variable refresh rates. i was getting ready to switch to the beta channel when i heard you had a black screen from one.

Honestly I'm on the Beta channel now, have been since an hour after receiving my unit. The fixes are faster and generally stable, and personally I've never had any bad experiences due to Beta. It also sounds like this black screen was temporary, worth a shot(?)

I've heard some people say their decks are starting to overheat now cause of the new curves with this update. Also with keyboard themes having issues, desktop mode controls acting weird, or even bricking the device sometimes

Try out Elden Ring with this beta update, apparently it went from running at 73° at 30 fps before, all the way to 87° now

Why they keep decreasing the fan speed, my steam Deck is going to get really hot with heavy games if they keep lowering the fan. I really don't care about the little noise as long as my console is kept cold. Stop complaining about the noise everyone.
