I have been wondering whether they might release a new Steam controller that is basically just the left and right controller portions of the Deck welded together to tightly integrate with the Deck and so that you keep a familiar controller setup when switching from handheld to docked/standing up. I would absolutely buy that as I intend to use this a lot on the TV at home too.

Ya I think the steam deck controls are the natural evolution of the steam controller would be cool to see a new steam controller with the updates the deck has because I think it's better then the original steam controller.

Would really love to see a Steam Controller 2 based on the Steam Deck controls. There really wasn't too much wrong with the Steam Controller, and the Steam Deck does seem to solve the few complaints the Steam Controller had. I never fully understood why it failed, it doesn't seem like a bad controller.

@@PyroTech03 They dropped the right stick and the D-pad, but kept the left stick and the buttons. Keeping all of the controls on the Steam Deck was a good move, which is why I advocate that a Steam Controller 2 keep the Steam Deck's controls.

It was a bit jarring not having any sticks. If you couldn't adjust, you didn't like the controller. And there were many more that just had no interest in trying it.

Could be new designs for future steam decks

Instead of user notification they should use thermald for thermal throtling. I would prefer a slow down on fps than a shutdown. thermald have several methods like "noop injection" or "CPU core off" or "frequency límit" to archive that goal.

They do that already. Notification is just for you to know why it turned off/is slowing down. It slows down at 100°C and turning off at 105°C

I'm with the other commentators here, most likely we'll be seeing a switch style re-attachable control system, where you may remove the controls, and then slide them into an enclosure to use as if it was a typical wireless controller. I imagine the main use case for re-attachable controls in this manner would be 2 player support from one controller? so that eventually there will be a few games that are designed for the steamdeck that mimic certain switch titles that have one player use one joycon, and the other player use the other joycon, to achieve two player-one-screen gameplay. I'm thinking snipperclips, multi-board-game-collections such as the kind that incorperates connect 4 and chess, but also that one game meant for drunk parties where you milk a cow or whack someone with a sword they have to stop... I suppose this would be called party-games? or at the very least, in-person multiplayer.

it would require a costly durable frame upgrade. if users are unable to fix certain parts or even repair centers then this would a wise path.

Hey man, thanks for this! So I installed Firefox from the discover application before it became a flatpack. I thought maybe installing this new flatpack version would overwrite the old version installed in /usr/lib/firefox, but it doesn't. It is a completely new install. How in the world to I remove the old version? Total newb to Linux. I am learning, but need a few pointers!

Ok, i figured out how to make the other install of Firefox to open through shortcuts by going to settings>Applications>default applications> And then selecting the other Firefox in the list.

@@gamingonlinux Very interesting, thanks! Seems like since I installed it the old way, by default with every other shortcut, it launches the old version. If I launch through discover, it will launch the new version. I installed the beta build, and it removed firefox. Then I figured I would change back to stable to see if it stayed gone. It was back. But I imagine the next stable release would remove the old version of firefox as well. Is that correct? Also, I disabled the read-only filesystem to try to delete it myself with the "sudo steamos-readonly" disable command. I tried to delete the firefox directory myself, and it still says I don't have permission. Instead of messing with things more, I decided to re-enable the read-only file system. I used the command "sudo steamos-readonly enable". It asked for my password, and then after hitting enter, I got no response. Is this normal? Does that mean the read-only file system is activated again? I am sorry for asking. Linux is so much different than Windows, but I am enjoying learning about it, and hope to put it on my PC soon!

The old one would be removed by Valve via a system update in Preview / Beta. You can't just remove yourself unless you turn off read-only filesystem as it's part of the OS.

I wish they would let us choose the resolution for TVs in game mode.

Yes i love this green theme as well, too bad it's not in gaming mode.

I’ve been having an issue with Firefox. It simply will not open and when it sends me to Discover it runs an “error updating app stream”. Also discover cannot find chrome when searched for. I’ve tried all the methods of restarting. It also doesn’t even work when trying to download chrome while in gaming mode. It throws a loading circle and then poof nothing. My internet speed is fine and stable as well. I’m also completely updated to current versions as well. Is there anything that can be done? (Apologies for this being long)
