Man, and the EU 64Gb queue jumped over 3 months worth today. 3 MONTHS. There are some happy friends in the EU right now. I'm in the US 256Gb queue and just passed 50%, so I am hoping Monday, but maybe Thursday could be my day after all. Who knows, but I will keep cautiously optimistic in the mean time.

It's actually really clever and imho this is how new hardware should be launched. 1. If there's a lawsuit in the early phase of a product lanch, like what happened with the Steam Controller, Valve can halt the production immediately and sustain minimum damage. 2. If there's a production issue affecting all devices, it would be easier to call back to the factory given how few have been shipped.

@@samsixx7087 A jury found that Valve willfully infringed on a patent held by Ironburg Inventions through its design of the Steam Controller. The patent violation dealt with the paddles on the back of the Steam Controller.

Pre-ordered within the first hour during the Great Flood of June '21, got my deck early February, bought the low tier, took out the internal SSD and slapped in a 1TB drive, then slapped a 1TB sd card into it, the user experience has gotten better with each passing update they make and with each new game I try on it. It's handheld perfection.

lol cool story bro but the closest thing to a 2tb ssd in 2230 form factor is still only a prototype. and nobody makes an sd card thats 2tb either. you can get a 1 tb ssd and a 1tb micro sd for about 400 dollars though. or use an external ssd with a dock

I bought it on eBay and the listing specifically mentioned Xbox Series console usage, but I made sure it was the proper form factor, watched like 5 or 6 teardown and replacement videos, and BOOM got to work. That week I learned what a "data limit" was and switched my home internet service.

The 512 GB US is at 29 Days! I thought the community was big before, but I feel like it's just going to explode now! My favorite thing has been to add in things like Emudeck, Heroic, mods, Minecraft, and I recently figured out how to automatically add steamgridDB art to my non-steam games. I wouldn't have been able to do it without community support! Can't wait to see what will happen next! I would love a way for me to play the Xbox games I own on my Microsoft account (Halo Infinite) and if someone could get the Amazon Games Launcher working, that would be swell! There's a work around for the Amazon games, but I haven't been able to find anything for my owned Xbox games yet (that doesn't involve installing Windows)

@ooga_booga It's very likely to happen since Valve drastically upped their output. If you run Steam every day, there's messages and notifications all over the place, you can't really overlook it. Some are even that pesky that you have to do some work to make it go away. That's either ordering the thing or checking a box that says: "I have read and understood this message", before being able to close it.

@ooga_booga exactly that. First prognosis after preorder on 8.15.2021 was Q4/21, then Q2/22, then it changed to "after Q3/22", where it stayed for a while and then last Monday, when i was totally not expecting it, i received the order mail and ordered on the spot.

A few hair raising moments where my bank decided to reject the transaction because they felt it was unusual but got there in the end finally by logging onto the pc and doing it through that (don’t try doing it through the Steam app on your phone as there’s a pop up window that doesn’t get displayed!) now for the agonising wait for shipping!

Just so people know that don't have a steam deck yet. If you have steam open or when you open it a popup comes on upon your screen first when you steam deck is ready, telling you that you have 2 days to buy it. and a also a yellow alert at the top of your steam window that I never seen before letting you know you have a important message. you wont just get an email. Im sure everyone that has been waiting checks there email like crazy when it gets close to time to buy scared they will miss it like I did. Shouldn't have to worry with the large pop up on screen and yellow alert if you use steam on you PC. aslo I got my alert on a Tuesday.

Yes, i can confirm, the messages are that pesky, you can't really get rid of them unless you either order or cancel. Even the Steam main Window titlebar changes to a really visible colour with a huge message

Got my 256 GB a few weeks ago and immediately ordered a second! So far, I've really enjoyed re-playing tons of old games I played on PS3 and PS4. I'm playing Dishonored now which runs at max settings at 60 fps. More modern stuff seems to run surprisingly smoothly at 40-45 fps, which is great because I can adjust the display to match that refresh rate. Older stuff gets 3-5 hours on battery and more modern stuff much less.

Turns out I got my e-mail yesterday and missed noticing it. Thanks to this video, I checked my Deck status in the store and was surprised to see I was able to complete my purchase! I had NONE of the expected notifications from within Steam itself (PC or Android clients), but I still was getting the "on sale" push notifications for games.. Not what I was expecting. But thanks for the heads up, you helped me not miss my Steam Deck order window! Also, FYI, my preorder was for the 512GB unit, in the US, reservation was made on Aug 5, 2021.
