Yes, once I know the RAM, I adjusted VRAM allocation to 4GB in boot settings. Though I would appreciate it if it can be adjusted to 6 or 8 GB as a "Not Recommended but Optional" choice for experimental. It helps along with performance overlays to make sure that the games made that don't have memory allocation runaway or leaks in both PC and Steam Deck.

@@spookymunky1 Indeed that the Deck's default settings are overtly generous to take account of variation in potentiometer input. On the other hand, Hall Effect joysticks have only seen use in simulation peripherals, and have not seen 1st party use for consoles after Sega Dreamcast, and rarely found among 3rd parties as it is the case of Gulikit being one of the few that utilize them in gamepad config controllers. On another note, so long as I get detailed feedback from my sensors about how much the potentiometers stray from center after letting it self-center, I will adjust my deadzones accordingly and decide when the deadzone is wide enough to justify replacement, as it will definitely be beyond warranty by the time it happens.

I mean honestly I bet that I still have 25 year old gravis xterminator or whatever joypads somewhere that still do not have any "drift" if I still had a computer with serial joypad ports, lol... or sony dualshocks etc... it has always been mainly just a nintendo thing from my experience... To judge the tech that has been working well for most companies that do not cheap out and overcharge would be similar to, I do not know.. thinking that all phone batteries are doomed to expand or die in a year or catch fire or explode purely because every phone that samsung made and continues to make does that... when pretty much no other manufacturer has this issue, lol. One direct comparrison is the fact that my psp slim has no "drift" on the thumb stick.. how old is that compared even to when the switch was new ? I love nintendo, always have, but haha... sigh.. I lost count of how many snes and n64 and gamecube controllers I went through... they are not very good at manufacturing hehe. That switch pro pad thing that I got probably would have worked fine on an actual switch since the deadzone is that large maybe.. hehe.. so I guess that it passed their factory checks without setting off any alarms, rofl.. just because a company is huge and charges a lot does not mean they make something good, more often than not it is the opposite sadly. I mean if your tollerance is basically your dead zone then yeah, you will get pads released by the thousands / millions that are basically only passing, and within a few months go out of the dead zone... steam deck's deadzone is huge compared to their actual tollerance, same as most companies. The problem is people keep rewarding companies like nintendo and samsung by just buying more from them to replace their failures, it is sick... they have no incentive to actually improve their products since even if they make them worse and increase the price so that people think they are getting something better when they know it's the same crap nobody actually votes with their wallet by simply not paying them. It is scary haha

I am not sure if it is a necessary thing for people to worry about ?... honestly just because nintendo messed up so badly does not mean that all thumbsticks are prone to such severe and rapid deaths, sigh. e.g. I bought a new nintendo switch pro controller and by factory default it had severe drift, lol... I managed to fix it in xinput etc but that only remaps based on what you have, so hehehe, yes I could get it to work but say turning left would have 80% of the range that it should have been, and without that ability, like say a switch.. emm.. well... more e-waste for mother earth to gobble up. This is not normal haha.. some of my xbox 360 pads etc lasted 10+ years I guess without issues... the only pads that I can think on as being similarly bad to the switch were **shock** nintendos own n64 and gamecube joypads, lol... can you see a pattern ? Honestly I am finding it difficult to think on any non nintendo thumbpads / joysticks that have been so awful in every way... test it on your deck, by default the dead zone is set way too high, you can reduce it and test it and see how your sticks react when let go, if they stay red when you let go then increase deadzone a little... that is basically all, and besides making your deck much nicer to use it will give you an indication of the wear and any issues that it has.

I don't know on that game, but there are many games you can use the "Launch Options" if you know a little command line to get around things. Like I changed stuff around in Civ6 so it bypasses the launcher and only starts the DX12 version. See if this shows up in YouTube comments, but for example this is what I did in Civ6 to modify what is in %command% (the default command to run the game) eval $( echo "%command%" | sed "s/2KLauncher\/LauncherPatcher.exe'.*/Base\/Binaries\/Win64Steam\/CivilizationVI_DX12.exe'/" )

@Steven Turner no gabe newell has said that they arent profiting off the 64gb steam deck. Which means it might be breaking even that's possible, but even if its breaking even your still getting a great price. Other companies will try to profit off of device sells because they dont have the steam store. (Not talking about sony, microsoft, nintendo, more so the other brands that make handhelds).
