As an alternative to my previous guide using Warpinator (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sHdQT6kI6Q8), here's another way to share files to / from your #SteamDeck using the much more well-known Syncthing. hi gamingonlinux, I have a request, could you make a tutorial to show how you can transfer your games installed on windows PC to steamdeck. is it even possible, or do we have to redownload it on steamdeck? its possible when transferring from one windows PC to another windows PC, not sure if it works here. Thanks a lot for all the tutorials and steamdeck videos, they're really helpful.

It's the same process as two windows PC, the only difference is that if the game has a native Linux version, steam will download the Linux executable and any other Linux specific file Usually its like 10mb of data, really If the game is gonna run through proton, steam won't need to download any file

Get the game folder and put it in your Deck's steamapps/common folder, then install the game again: Steam will see the files are already there, and won't download anything/only download what's missing, if anything is missing

It's possible you can do it with this tool, as long as you then copy the folder into steamapps/common where the rest of your games sit. I really don't know how it would work though with Proton...

This is so useful. You can also use this tool for games that don't have cloud savegames or some games where the cloud function is broken. Also adding Syncthing as a non-Steam game can make sense to save some time and no need to enter desktop mode. Just quick start, let it sync, close app. Start your game. Of course both devices needs to be turned on. At least this is useful for me when I mostly use my Steam Deck at home. I'm wondering if you can set Syncthing up somehow with a cloud service.
