@@theafchefstable8284 Problem is.. man is most of there games and items that they made are still being updated, I dont think your correct yet.. I think its because the founder still exists and is the boss, once.. That goes away..it will become that only, i mean the index got made and they didn't make a "affordable" version so its obvious there intentions are also to advance some parts of gaming and tech.. For now, i mean its not like a company got made just cause some guy was greedy( most times) it was made cause someone cared, and then it stopped.

Last I heard (about a week ago) is that Valve are "aggressively pursuing" this feature. So who knows. It's going to happen at some point.

'Sleep' in computing terms means the processor is (mostly) turned off. Since writing data is a task that requires the processor, it isn't technically possible to download anything while sleeping. Phones get around this by having a hardware architecture that allows for some low-power processing to take place on the SoC, but the X86-architecute doesn't usually allow for much more than a 'wake up'-call while sleeping. You can have the screen turned off as an alternative to sleeping, but the deck will still use a lot of power so preferably this should only be a thing while plugged in. The proper way to make it a good user experience isn't as simple as you might expect.

Yes for me too. I don't know if it is only software because it looks like the chip needs to be compatible as well. But just turn off the screen would help a lot when downloading in the background. Let's see what they bring

My Deck keeps shutting completely off during play after this update. Think there might be something else going on now. Feels like the deck is also getting hotter than before.

I have had about 3 spontaneous turnoffs so far. That was in the last 2 months, playing the same game. I assume it triggers bugs somehow in the power management unit driver. Since it's only seldom I did not see a repeatable test to report a regression. It can be anything still. I don't feel a hot unit, the airflow/heat design is too good to feel a difference.

Maybe take a closer look at the measured temps (e.g. in the mangohud) while that's happening. It is possible for the SoC to shut down in case it was overheating If that's the case, there could also be something wrong with your specific unit. Either way, if it's overheating while ambient isn't above the safe range, then it's definitely something to talk through with support.

Its not fixed with FSR and 40hz enabled there is still Stuttering. they only fixed linear scaling

I play DRG a lot. To enable proper mouse use you have to load DRG from the desktop to have full mouse movement. Do you know any way to get a decient frame rate when linking it to the tv? :)

Anyone know why basically every game will have a random 1 frame blip on the frametime graph every few minutes or so? It's not a big issue, but I just don't know why it happens in everything. I assume its some stuff happening in the background. I've noticed it in other people's performance videos as well, so I'm pretty sure it's not just me

I hope they won't give up on Deck after a year or so. Their approach to hardware and software transparency is admirable, and I'm hoping to see more Valve hardware in the future. (I should be getting my 256GB soon. "Your expected order availability: Q3 (July-September) 2022")

If you saw how well it sold, you’d know that there’s a VERY low chance they’ll just stop supporting it. Valve wants to improve gaming on Linux and push the Proton compatibility layer, the deck has access to plenty of games in your library, and they’re already working on a steam Deck 2 with new RDNA3 chips, which should release in 4-5 years

Awesome job on reaching out to them and getting this fixed! Any connection you have to reach out to steam developers and ask them to add the ability to connect an Xbox wireless dongle to the steam deck? Bluetooth works but just isn’t nearly as reliable as the Xbox wireless connection provided through the dongle.

I remember reading and watching people saying li(gnu)x was not ready for gaming yet, and that they would switch to MS WOS their Steam Decks. But Valve knew better, with li(gnu)x, and open source drivers and own or FOSS (I do not know) firmware, they can improve the experience every day. And that is not possible when you have no access to improve everything on the device.

Apparently there are 3 more issues that people are reporting now too. Stuttering is still happening with FSR and apparently some games like RDR2 and The Witcher 3 are running worse and using less vram. Also seems like offline modes having issues too

The update didnt sort anything, play Red dead redemption 2 on steam deck. It now has performance issues. It was running smoothly before the update. Its shambles now.

The only problem with Valve is the need to let Steam Deck reaches all the gamers who need it. This device is incredible. My gaming time has significantly increased since I got it. I really hope those who ordered one get theirs soon. If you are waiting for a long time, let me tell you the wait is absolutely worth it. I hope Valve will make the Steam Deck a permanent thing and not just a one-time thing.

I have the problem similar but frame time jacks up to 900-1000 ms and it got stuttered for a minute then became ok for 1 minute and will return to the stutter mode again. It's so annoying i cant even play it for a long time.
