Checking out the "Unsupported" Halo: Reach from the Master Chief Collection on #SteamDeck. They all work well, as long as you turn off anti-cheat with the option you're given when going to launch.

Glad to see MCC running so great. Was one of my top 5 games i want to play on the Steam Deck. It's annoying that Online Multiplayer isn't possible because of anti cheat, but hopefully 343i will address this in the future. Could you also test Halo 2 Anniversary? As that would be a great stress test since it's the most demanding game in the MCC. Also is there a reason your using borderless over Fullscreen?

@Priception Apparently guessing they added the files since peeps are saying its in now. Only downside atm though is that this new update might have also broken support for the game while running it without eac on linux

uh firefight works as long as you play with anti cheat disabled. You can play it in singleplayer.

Does the external 30 FPS limiter add another frame of input lag like RTSS does? I'd imagine that'd make the game very sluggish to play at 30 Hz.

@gamingonlinux noted. thanks. I'd likely be using the deck as a 60 FPS machine for older games like this one anyway, and just let the VSYNC cap do its work at 60.

It does add a bit in some games, it very much depends on the game.

It's a Linux machine. Some anticheats aren't compatible with Linux and those that are need developer support to implement. EAC for example has support for Linux but it's up to developers/publishers to actually do something with it. MCC isn't running natively to begin with let alone the anticheat. Sadly that's gonna be the case for a lot of games. Steam Deck users have stumbled into the world of Linux and with it comes the joys of begging publishers to add native Linux support for modern titles.

I’m looking forward to playing this on the deck all the halo campaigns in MCC hopefully they sort out the online soon. Also can I ask how online gaming is on the deck? Seeing as though everything has to be played via Wi-Fi

Wouldn't count on online being supported anytime soon. We're back to the classic Linux conundrum of publishers not bothering with support because they feel it isn't worth it. I'd say maybe the Steam Deck would help but I'm guessing most people who get one do so already coming from Steam to begin with, so they already owned the games they wanted to play on it in the first place. Personally not too interested in the Deck myself but I REALLY wish I could play MCC with full functionality on Linux. That alone would nearly be enough for me to switch for good.

I am actually thinking about buying it again on Steam to play it on Steam Deck. The Cloud version has too much input lag for my taste and I don't want to install Windows on the Deck.

The steam deck is my first PC and I am very excited to play MCC on it, but the anti cheat thing sort of confuses me. Could anyone give me a simple explanation of how to turn it off? Thanks!

You can mess around with the config files for MCC or you can just choose to turn off easy anti cheat when you boot up the game. But currently MCC will not run on the steam deck if it’s turned on. Meaning multiplayer functionality doesn’t work atm, unless there’s some kind of work around.
