Good fixes in this one, those unclaimed rewards popups where a bit annoying. Valve has been pretty timely bugs like that one squashed around a week after they're introduced.

Have the deck sine April now and tuned every AAA game to run at 15 W. Way to afraid to let it run at 25 W anyways :D

@@Khronyn yes, always play at 8 or 9 W too and gpu, depending on the game, around 800-1200 Mhz. Have no idea why people push the deck to the limit all the time, my way it runs good at 40 Hz and 40 fps.

The replies don't know what they're talking about. 25w for the entire system and 15w for the APU. You just tuned it down to 15w for the whole system by limiting CPU and GPU in the Settings. Good shit and I do the same. 9/1100 or if I want a little more stability or frames for a few mins of battery I do 11/1300

Achievements in the overlay is really something Steam has needed for a while. And IMHO this needs to be sortable by date too, so you can quickly check what your last achievement was.

@@Micromation Sometimes it's fun trying to get rare ones, like benevolent leader in Fallout 4 for example. And Steam does have a showcase where it features your rarest achievements, so it makes sense to be able to track them while you play. They're seen as collectables for some people, and another element of competition with friends for others.

Ah so the deck probably won’t like my room at the min, with the windows open, pc off (for over a week now :( sadly) and two big fans running 24/7 and my room is still hitting high 30s to mid 40s any longer and I think the wooden furniture will start to melt.

@@Micromation yep unfortunately((( but more i play on the steam deck more i understand that 85-90 °C is a normal state at load for that chip ... no throttles till now, but yep after pc cpus and intel limits of max 80°C thats not normal for my eyes ,but it works and i hope it will continue to work🤣🤷🤪

Yea, it should've been thicker - it's only as thin as those massive, comfortable hand grips anyway, would make no fucking difference from usability standpoint if it was 1cm thicker in the middle... even if it was space filled with nothing but a copper radiator the utility value would go through the roof. For some fucking reason people designing these mobile systems (be it handhelds or laptops) completely neglect the cooling aspect. When I was buying a gaming laptop (I had to travel a lot at one point) back in 1060-1080Ti era there were like grand total of 2 laptops that DIDN'T overheat and throttle... like... what's the fucking point. Some kretin manufacturers made ultrabooks with hardware they had no hopes of cooling down in this form factor and never reach the performance potential...but the price sure was there.

It was so freaking hot yesterday, I gave up and shutdown my PC and continued my gaming session on the Deck downstairs where ambient temp was way cooler thanks to not being below the roof with the sun cooking it, so convenient being able to do that!

you could stream from your pc so the room its in gets hot but your deck is pretty much at idle in the room you're in making you even cooler

I mean, this is just common sense right? Same with all hardware. Try playing a graphics & CPU intensive game on a laptop, outside in 90+ degree heat and tell me it survives. On top of that, who the hell plays outside on a bright sunny day with an LCD screen anyways?

@@Micromation They did look at OLED screens, but they took almost twice the power of a regular LED screen so the opted for a screen that wouldn't drain your battery in an hour.

They really dropped the ball with the screen, should've been OLED from the get go - I'm sure this is something they will address in next iteration of Steam Deck (they were surprised that overwhelming majority of preorders was for 512gb version and said that they are gonna aim at higher price point to cram better hardware in, whereas debut version was made as cheap as possible, afraid that people wouldn't buy it at higher pricepoints)

For the UK it was the hottest 5 days in like... 50 years? Summer is 25-28 degrees at most here, last 3 days we were hitting 40... at work a fucking industrial grade ice making machine stopped working due to overheating. Yes, it was a heat wave and way out of ordinary for normal summer... thankfully today it's down to 26, clouds and cool breeze - finally got more than 2 hours sleep... 40 degrees at this humidity is pure fucking hell, feels like a goddamn sauna, inhaling the hot, moist air...

It's quite unfortunate that they decided that device must be as thin as possible at the cost of not installing sufficient heatsink and fan. I mean, nothing would change if device would be 1cm thicker because it's only as thin as it's thickest point, in this case massive, comfortable grips. It could give them space for a heatsink, bigger fan or a bigger battery. But no, it's against current trends.

The Beta updates suck. I downloaded it the other day and it makes all my games blurry on default. I had to go back to Stable Update. I’ll jump to the beta in hopefully 4-6 months from now.
