@@xenotrixx your spelling is correct. Something packed up into a box would be called a pack. Flatpak and many other software programs just like to use incorrect spelling.

Apparently it's because it downloads the other emulators as flatpacks and if it was too it wouldn't have the authority to make changes to the other flatpacks

Emulation Station is listed in the emulators list too. I found this out when I selected them both. At least it is easy to delete one of the entries.

Emudeck is ... astonishingly good. steam rom manager needs some work admitedly, but emudeck is just really good. I just installed it on my GF's deck and she is enjoying it now.

Emudeck is a hub of emulators within. It's not an emulator in itself. Like how the Steam Client isn't a game but a holder of games.

emudeck installs retrodeck, yuzu, etc in one go. it isn't really its own emulator, but a combination of different emulators

Yeah I've been playing God Hand and Burnout 3 and they work pretty darn well. I think those games you're referring to just might not be well optimized for the emulator and steam deck. Bummer :(

I'm using Batocera on a 256 GB SD card. Its plugs into a USB C to SD adapter so I don't even need to remove my Steam SD card. Having used Emulation Station and Emudeck I recomend it.

Installed it and it rocks. If you don't like the quick settings you made during the setup you can just set it up again very easily. The only thing that's still janky is that some Nintendo Switch ROMS in the .nsp file format have an error ("ROM formate not support" error even though .nsp format is supported) if you try to launch the game straight from the steam home UI. I found it's better to simply run Yuzu from the steam home first and then select the game you want to play from the emulator's list. Just an extra two steps.

Steam ROM Manager leaves a lot to be desired. It tends to misidentify a lot of ROMs even if the names are exact, and it doesn't let you correct anything. It doesn't even tell you which file each result is for. The only option is to guess which file needs renamed, hope you can guess how to convince it by renaming it, and re-scan everything. Which sucks if you've already gone through and customized graphics. Also when testing previously, I wasn't able to remove the ROMs from Steam using the manager, and had to remove each one indiviually from within Steam. For all the praise people give it, I really can't understand why. It has a long way to go before it's really even usable. I just let it add the emulators to Steam and use Emulation Station for browsing the ROMs.

Yeah, the best way of doing mass import is done by calibre ebook manager. Import everything automatically, then preview results and keep/leave/customise individual fields in individual results
