i just got it a few days ago. been using it nonstop! and im not even gaming on it! i'm spending most of my time in desktop mode, tweaking the deck. imo this is the most revolutionary device in computing since the original iphone.

Maybe because SteamOS proable mode didn't have CJK virtual keybroad at day one? Normal player might had bad experience without it.

I mean, not that weird. They already had issues with the pre-orders and production being wickedly far behind. Reminder that people who ordered a year ago are still waiting for their Deck. How do you think that would have gone if they also allowed orders to even just China? Doubling the number of orders at a bare minimum, based on video game sales alone.

Releasing in Asia day one only makes sense of your primary goal is to make money with sales. Valve has different goals, so didn't make sense for them to release in Asia first.

With limited supply they couldnt open to the entire world at once. People are complaining but they are right to do region by region. Working with companies for distribution etc. Its going to be available everywhere at some point.

This is nice!! Hopefully Southeast Asian countries are next, considering how popular both Dota 2 and maybe CSGO are in the region, especially in the Philippines where I live. Valve can easily promote the Steam Deck with both Dota 2 and CSGO for an effective marketing strategy to customers.

I'm pretty certain that case is just reused, very early promotional material before it was finalized (it's a render) and not a hint to a different one for Asia. It didn't matter then as nobody had seen the actual one and it didn't stand out as weird. Can't check now for sure as I'm on mobile.

1:20 seems like they fixed the carrying case design.. you know by putting the handle on the otherside of the hinge, the device wont be easily dropped if the zipper broke

The very *first* region in Asia to get the Steam Deck will be *Japan* ! When *that* happens, the people there are gonna see that the Steam Deck absolutely *trounces* the Switch in pretty much *every important* way (the detachable Joy-con we're a cool idea in theory, but in *practice* , I actually think that's the *root* cause of the constant drift problem); and *then* , when the Steam Deck starts outselling the Switch in Japan, Nintendo, if they're *smart* , are gonna realize that it's no longer even *worth* it to try to make gimmicky consoles, and start making all their games for *PC* instead! We're witnessing the *end* of the Console Age, and the beginning of the *PC* age here, just as I *predicted* the Steam Deck would bring about! By the way, I say all this as an owner of both a Switch *and* a Steam Deck who's planning on installing a Switch emulator on their Deck because the drift problem keeps him from playing the Switch games he's bought.
