Experimental made Ty the tasmanian tiger 2 and 3 actually launch and playable until after the tutorial boss but if you change your settings it wont boot up again for both.

Valve rocks. I usually hate most of these game corporations but they actually support their shi7 and listen to their users. As a Linux gamer, but not a steam deck owner, all of these Proton updates make my gaming experience so much better.

Just the same, don't give them your loyalty. They're giving you a good product and supporting it, and that's a good thing. Not everything they do, have done, and will do, will be good and they shouldn't be above criticism on those matters.

@@Tom-vg5nb Yeah I agree. I don't play many PVP games so it has almost no impact on me. Manjaro is rocking for playing all the games i love. Witcher 3''s new direct x 12 patch plays perfect with a lot of stuff on ULTRA at 4k now so it's hard to say Linux isn't a gaming OS now.

I am not understanding how people say Linux isn't ready for gaming. Unless you are playing anti cheat live service games most stuff I through at Linux runs just fine with little to no effort.

Anyone else on Steam Deck Beta and On screen keyboard not working after you hide it once in game, and won't come back? Like you can only bring it up once every game session and if you hide it, it won't come back up until you restart the game. Very very annoying.

Im still noticing crashes on The Witcher 3 even with the latest experimental proton. The only thing that has made it a little better (still happens but rare) is the latest GE Proton.

Would love an update on vampire survivor on deck. Games a wreck after 5 minutes but somehow still managed to get a "verified" badge.

@@interlinkedMedia I haven't tried video capture from my deck but will see what I can do with my capture gear. Otherwise I can set up an off screen camera and capture that way once I get past 15 mins. I've never made it to 30 minutes in the game yet, but I definitely past 20 mins where the screen is absolutely loaded with enemies, projectiles etc. I need to check but I typically run most games on the deck at 40 Hz and capped at 40 fps to conserve my battery rather than run at the full 60, but am definitely not noticing any slowdown or lag. I'm at work today but will give this a go tonight my time.

@Dennis Plester  can you upload a video of of this? There is not one on all of the internet. The game runs fine until about the 15 minute area and then the performance starts to drop to under 15 fps once there is a lot going on. After 30 min is crawls around 5-7 fps.

What issues are you seeing with VS? I’ve only had my steam deck for about two weeks now, but VS was the first game I installed and it plays perfectly for me (as far as I can tell) using default settings. I’m still learning the game but can play consistent multiple runs of around 25 mins each without any slowdown etc. I sometimes run the default option and sometimes the GPU lag fix but am not seeing an obvious difference?

Really proud to be a steam deck owner, for I know my money does not go to Valve but also sponsor open source movement.

I am glad to see this continue. I have been hoping to switch off windows as windows has steadily been getting worse. I still have some issues with the games I enjoy on linux but I know I am the less than 1% gamer and so won't get much attention. I imagine I will be installing windows again in a few weeks but I will certainly try linux again down the road.

How can the team tweak proton to fix these issues for a game without affecting all other games. My mind is blown thinking about the thousands of games not having an issue when you fix compatability with just one game.

A lot of it is just matching what Windows does, and fixing issues where Proton acts differently. That and Proton has areas that just need work.

It works already, but it depends on each individual developer enabling it.

They just need to fix Monster Hunter Rise crashing in sleep mode.

In some games like Doom 2016 Iam facing very annoying frametime jitter what causes the fps to dip down from 60 (locked) to 58. ALWAYS 58. Even if don't do anything and just standing still within the game. In RE 8 its even worse but there I can fix it by switching to windowed mode with enabling fixed GPU clock. SMT enabled or disabled does not make a difference. But in RE 8 its completely gone at all after turning FSR off which does not help at all for Doom 2016. Very weird. But despite that, exact same behaviour!

I know I've seen people talking about switching to different versions of Proton and I was totally lost but I'm not now so again many thanks. The Steam Deck is an incredible handheld btw 👍

Need help trying to play hellblade I have proton experimental on just says launching forever

Do you guys know why Proton 7 works better than Proton Experimental or Proton GE on my AMD rig? I played Rayman Legends with Proton 7 just a few days ago, then today Ubisoft Connect got an update and broke. I found out that Ubisoft Connect still works with Proton Experimental and also with Proton GE, however, those do not work with Rayman Legends. I get a fault message that fullscreen is not supported. I have a Radeon 570 graphics card. I tried some random launch commands that people with Radeon cards posted on the Proton database, but no luck. How do people even come up with those commands? I have the same issue with Far Cry 6, except that I downloaded it only today and never had a chance to test with Proton 7 and the previous version of Ubisoft Connect. Far Cry 6 claims that the GPU has no Dirct3D level 12 feature set support. I can play Horizon Zero Dawn, Doom 2016, Forza Horizon 5, and Ace Combat Skies Unknown with no issues whatsoever, thanks to Proton 7. At least Horizon Zero Dawn and Forza Horizon should be Directx 12 judging by the impressive graphics. I'd say my machine roughly compares to a PS4 in terms of performance. I have about 40 games or so on Steam, and they all work like a charm with Proton 7. If you have any advise, I would appreciate it. I downloaded the 170 GB for Far Cry 6 already twice, just because of stupid Ubisoft Connect.
