Valves never said that. Right from launch they said that you can use any USBC dock and they also released the 3D files for the Deck for free so 3rd parties and modders could make accessories for it.

I was going to get a steam deck but I’m actually getting a rog ally because it can play games the steam deck can’t because of anti cheat. I think I’d still get a steam deck down the road because of the support valve gives it but I can’t wait for the ally.

I got the steam deck and it can play any game almost … just gotta go through loops and install windows on a micro sd or external drive but it can play cod mw2 destiny2 and Fortnite too … but I’m also getting the rog on the 13th lol because it just straight up out performs it

I ordered the transparant Jsaux backplate when it first came out. It's awful, it just feels cheap. Don't order Jsaux plates.

@@JaggedJack1 well with any sort of third party casing, there will always be a certain percentage that aren’t perfect but the majority seem to love it and all mine are great

Recently bought full AMD laptop and tried out gaming on Linux as experiment. The few games I tried on Steam (Flatpak) worked out of the box. Some games work better on Vulkan with Linux than they do on Windows with DirectX (partially due to some of them being poorly supported with DirectX like Quake Champions). Assassin's Creed Odyssey doesn't work at all though. I imagine that's because of Ubisoft Connect not kicking in. How to fix it? Would the NonSteamLaunchers tool help with this?

@@DavidBerger-g2h I am aware. They say to disable Ubisoft Connect, but I see no such option in Steam. I suspect they use their own launcher or I am missing some context.

I have Jsaux's current transparent purple backplate installed. But eXtremeRate's upcoming metallic purple shell looks darn sexy. Would be interesting to know if eXtremeRate shell's backplate could be simply mounted on Valve's frontplate. As I'm not feeling up to the challenge of doing 206 steps for a complete shell swap.

It's cool that there people working on steam deck peripherals. But these backplates are not for me, since I'm using a Killswitch case (I won't see the back case). And the frontplate will be very very difficult to replace. Pius ... Am I the only one not liking the purple transparent console cases ? I know that there was a n64 in that style, but I don't get why everybody is so eager to get a purple transparent everything ...

Been waiting on the Frore in a Steam Deck for a while. They touted that it would be in some “smaller” devices several months ago, and I expected it to be in the Ally. If they release it as a mod for the Deck, I am absolutely getting it ASAP and will update everyone.

@@The8bitbeard hopefully this can be done for the Hyperdimention Neptunia spin off titles too. I'm a big fan of Compile Heart games. All of the main line games in the series play just fine, but the spin off games have a similar problem just like Moero Chronicles did. I'm sure with time they will be playable too.

So ied love to have that Satan purple front cover but that’s way too much work, I talked my mum into having a desktop pc and even spent 200 quid on a shiny keyboard because I didn’t want to have to deal with how faffy laptops are and a steamdeck is laptops faff turned up to 11, now if there was a way I could go here is my steamdeck I’m paying you to do the faff for me (also if you break it I get a new deck or at least money to replace it) then ied happily let a pro do it( though I have friends that work for pc repair and replace shops and I know far more than them and I’m pretty much a novice when it comes to PCs, yes I can build them and diagnose hardware problems but I suck at the software side I have to google that stuff).

I don't know if they've improved their application process, or if it would be different for the steam deck shell, but I had an extreme rate dualshock 4 shell and the wood grain finish started wearing off after a few months of use. I also have extra sweaty palms though

Nah, that doesn't look too bad. I've done shell swaps and device repairs of various kinds, and this one definitely looks doable. Extremerate also has an incredibly detailed shell swap video. As long as you don't break the screen while removing it you'll be aight.

I just replaced my front shell using extremerate. It's not bad overall. It's easier than replacing a switch shell. just be careful removing the trackpads. The adhesive is very strong. Using a hairdryer helps
