dropping frames is quite normal when playing Source engine games. Im playing a lot of day of infamy ( based on the same engine) which is really good but i experience frame drops most of the time.

I'm sorry, but, aren't you playing the mod version?

Did you play it on Windows or Linux? Because the Linux version is apparently kinda buggy, so that might explain it.

The frame drops come down to how the source engine work if you watch a short video called "Stinger's source tutorials Optimizing maps #1 - Visleaves" He will explain it, just keep in mind with a few tricks you can pretty much manually create each visleaf.

besides the guns having a more polished look and renewed sound - how do they sound punchier ?
the pump on the shotgun is louder than the shot itself
as powerful as the revolver is, it's sound resembles more or less a firecracker a child may hold- it just sounds like an actual shot, rather than the, basically, "BOOM" of half life 1 because it's a stock gunshotsound.
the SMG - yeah, it's about the same with a bit more... I dunno raspiness. ("Assault rifle" - What hi-model crap were you playing?)
Nothing in black mesa sounds as "boom-y" as the first game.
Admit it, all you like about the game is the graphics. I mean you did notice the part where the zombie breakdanced after being "touched" by the barnacle? How many years of work went into this again? I know it's nit-picking, but all the mod team really is after is "money". The last original idea they had was for you to hand someone toilet paper in this mod. Fuck, at this point black mesa makes the call of duty franchise seem like a breath of fresh air. What's that? Aim down sights with a way too large viewmodel? Yeah, thanks for that black mesa.
