This game is the same as wolfenstein, except this one glorifies ussr, (wolfenstein mocked third reich). I know this is some fun amusement ride for westerners, but it's really just a prorussian government game from a russian studio with donations from the same government

I said I don’t blame the developers, making a fun Soviet themed bioshock-inspired game is no crime and the original devs obviously didn’t set out to make agitprop to distract from a war they didn’t even know would be happening… but that doesn’t necessarily mean that the executives involved in the distribution of the game are totally innocuous with the timing of their release (which no, isn’t the exact one year anniversary of the invasion itself but it is the one year anniversary of Putin’s published justification and the official Russian recognition of the separatist Republics) along with the conspicuous lies of omission about their ethnicity and lack of transparency about their funding.

Even if we give them the benefit of the doubt... WHY specifically release it on the 1-year anniversary of Putin's invasion? And not just any Russian game, but a game which is bursting from the seams with the exact same sort of Soviet nostalgia that Putin has been using since day 1 to justify and build internal support for his invasion? Because, while being a generally good game, it is also terrifically relevant agitprop to distract and boost the morale of potential Russian conscripts being forced into year 2 of the "special military operation". The timing certainly makes it seem like a 1-year birthday gift to Putin's brutal war effort, from a Russian company that goes out of its way to obfuscate the fact that they are mostly Russian rather than being honest from the start. I honestly don't blame the individual developers who likely didn't intend the game to be released in this way or in the context of a brutal invasion when they began working on it years ago... I suspect the higher-ups were the ones who bear most of the responsibility for the context of this game's release.

But this game would be an "ordinary game" if not for the current situation and the position of the developers and publisher. It's hard to look at it indifferently seeing Russia's brutal attack on Ukraine, daily acts of Russian terror and putin's craziness. Would you want to live in a country where you can't speak freely because you fear for your family? Russia is not China. There, everyone still has the opportunity to leave. Hey Liam, as someone who enjoys your videos and wants to see you thrive I wanted to give you some feedback. I really love your short update videos, whether it's about steam OS, Proton, Steamdeck hardware or games. I noticed with your game videos that you talk about how it runs on Deck (the part that I consider interesting and relevant) and then you stick a lot of uncommented gameplay footage at the end of the video. If I am anything close to your average viewer then most people like myself will just quit watching the video after your (great and informative) commentary has ended. That will cut down on your average view time per video and thus impact your youtube stats negatively and youtube is less likely to recommend your video to new viewers. If you provide this footage to give us a better overall impression of how the game runs, looks and feels on Deck then I would prefer if you pick some especially representative segments of your footage and comment on it. Like: "he're the game drops to 12fps", or "Look how pretty the game world looks like". Etc. I'm lazy and impatient. Sum up your game play experience and show me the most juicy parts. I disagree. If I can play a game at a near solid stable 45FPS, it's much preferable over 30FPS and it doesn't look massively different on the Deck screen between Low and Medium and Low just runs better overall.

This was a great take and I agree with you 100%. The game was a bit disappointing and its clear they cared entirely about the visuals and nothing else. The story, gameplay, and writing was pretty meh. I think its not terrible but definitely could have done better, definitely worth trying out on Game Pass. Also, im very confused how you managed to stream this the way you did considering Steam Decks lack of streaming capabilities. Id be interested to hear how you managed that.

Just played this on Xbox Game Pass and it's definitely one the best games of the year. It's hypocritical to hate the intro when you have games like God of War making you watch 5 minute cutscenes throughout the game. Fallout 4 did the same thing. This game may require beefy Linux machine for high quality gameplay.

Atomic Heart is an UE 4.27 game. This means the engine can use both TAAU or TSR for upscaling. So you can upscale from a lower than base 800p resolution with better performance and the same visuals. 67% or 59% rez scale should look perfectly adequate. Probably then Medium settings become easily maintainable at 40 fps.
