Unlikely at this point. Epic don't support Linux officially yet and Tim Sweeney gave some excuse as to why fortnite don't have EAC enabled on Linux last year. It's a bit weird as there are quite a few games using EAC + Proton these days including Apex Legends, Back 4 Blood and Dead by Daylight. Maybe eventually it will happen.

Damn the rate these games are enabling support is baffling. We are almost 2 years into the life of the steam deck and we still have such a small pool of anti cheat games. With the rog ally out i have my doubts we will be getting anymore. Im hoping im wrong but this is sad. We still dont even have support for paladins...

You can always install windows to play games not supported by Linux. I haven't done it yet as I will just play those on either my desktop or gaming laptop. Tempted to do it though.

Steam deck was released 25 Feb 2022, just over 15 months ago. How is that "almost two years"? Anyway sadly people using Proton are a fraction of these games player bases.

Hey, Liam, a soon-to-be-Decker here. So, I fiddled with Smite on Linux last night for curiosity sake. Two findings. First, the 64-bit client does NOT work in Proton. Either GE or Experimental. Only 32-bit for now. Second one is something I tested specifically because of this vid. For controller to work, you MUST turn off Steam Input for this game. It's still fiddly-as-hell as it is, but my DualShock3 actually was working in-game. Movement, attacks, the whole shebang.

64 bit absolutely works, it's what I was using. You cannot turn off Steam Input in Gaming Mode on Steam Deck. As for the controller issue, see the new pinned comment.

Smite is my main multiplayer game by far. I have played it on pc for years and on switch when on the road. I tried to play it in Steam OS before it was supported, but it didn't work. So when I heard that it was supported, I was estatic. I had been playing on Switch even when at home simply because I didn't want to switch to windows. Not ideal, because I am way worse with a controller. It didn't immediately work for me on Linux, but that was sort of my fault. I had proton set to use a specific version that didn't work with it from the first time I tried it, even though I uninstalled it, it remembered that setting. I unchecked force use that version and it worked like a charm. I think I will continue to play on switch when on the road, because I will have to use a controller either way, but when I am home I can play with kbm without needing to switch to windows, which is awesome, because my installation of Smite is always out of date there due to how rarely I use wi dows anymore.

It won’t even start for me, I restart my steam deck, put it on Proton Experimental and press play, it loads, then goes back to showing the play button. The weird thing is I fiddled a little and got it to run and was in the menu, but after I exited out the game, it refused to run and start again.

**UPDATE**: After some more testing, one thing I have found on Steam Deck is that you can use the built-in gamepad controls. However, they only work correctly in battles. The entire menu / lobby and god selection seems to not work with gamepad controls. So you can use touch screen, emulated mouse input or hold the STEAM button to activate mouse cursor. Seems this is a problem even on Windows going back years. (https://www.reddit.com/r/Smite/comments/lmrwnd/controller_doesnt_work_on_main_menu_or_god_select/). It does *not* have "Full controller support" as advertised on Steam.
