Happy Birthday Proton. Great and awesome work from Valve, that changes the situation for PC gaming forever. I do play Hyperdimension Neptunia Sisters vs Sisters at the moment. A great visual novel jrpg game, that combines the best elements of both genre.

What really stands out to me is the support for newer titles. I remember that if you had a game you could get working on Linux at all, it was probably at least 5 years old. And I still play a lot of older games, but being able to just pick up a new release that a lot of people are talking about like Hi-Fi Rush earlier this year and have it just work is really nice.

Xcom Enemy Within constantly crashes for me on Deck. On startup, during missions or on loading a save. Nothing i found online works. The native Linux port does not even recognize i own Enemy Within. Switching to other proton does nothing. According to steam the game is "Playable" on Deck but it clearly isnt.

just got callisto protocol, the first session of the app running looked like shit. when i came back the next day it had an update and the game looked way better, and performance also went up. what did i miss? is there a trick to restarting apps or something

Upon proton's announcement and release I remember the disagreement between linux purists who demanded native versions of games (and advocated boycotting all others) vs. the more visionary members of the community who saw the proton compatibility layer as a way to bring the number of linux users up to a critical mass. You have to have the weight before you can go throwing it around - *first* linux needs millions and millions of users, *then* demands can then be made.
