Well yes, this is basic tech stuff. The higher the resolution you're watching on, the worse a Steam Deck capture will look. Everyone capturing footage not via a camera pointed at the Steam Deck will have the same issue :). It's one reason why I often stick the videos inside Steam Deck frame...

@@gamingonlinux don't think it's just the size. looking at it on my much smaller phone right now and the game unfortunately looks just blurry. The 800p screen makes it look better than high res screens do. When I play the game on my Deck it looks a lot better than it does watching a video of it on my phone.

@@gamingonlinux Yeah, I have a steam deck myself so I know the games look quite good on the smaller screen haha, just seems especially blurry this video I'm assuming due to compression since YT keeps making it's 1080p bitrates worse and worse to then offer "1080p high bitrate" as a paid feature lol.

It's also because you're seeing a full-screen capture from Steam Deck too remember, you would usually be seeing this on a small screen on the handheld.

There should be no real big difference between them, apart from Steam giving out a shader cache which isn't such a big problem on SteamOS 3.5 with the better graphics driver.

You're looking at a full-screen capture at the Steam Deck's resolution, it is of course not going to look the same as playing it on the Steam Deck's small screen.

Ratche and clank fsr looks horrible even though XeSS had less frames it still to me was a better solution than fsr in that particular game.

Yeah my RX 480 could only get about 40fps on Cyberpunk too. Though since you can get a stable 40fps on the Steam Deck the experience is going to be way smoother than on a typical PC at those frames due to the settings Valve included and the type of screen they use

I really don’t think you would notice the difference on a small screen like the deck has. It’s often hard enough to notice whilst playing on a full sized rig.

As someone who uses his Steam Deck for both gaming portably and docked on a monitor and my 4K TV I can really give you only one piece of advice. Try to find settings that will give you consistent 30 fps on 1600 x 900 resolution for docked gaming. I find it to be the best compromise because 720p is simply too small for an actual TV and 1080p is too big for the Steam Deck. 1600x900 seems to be the decent middle ground where it won't look like total crap but it also won't completely kill your Steam Deck as well. Generally speaking in order to reach 30fps on that resolution you'd need to set the settings lower than what you normally would play on the native screen. Though that being said judging by this video it seems these medium settings might be able to work if they're running up to 40fps on the native resolution. I didn't try though because I don't own the game it's just my personal guess.

lotsa ppl dont care about 60 frames nowadays and will sacrifice the frames for visual fidelity on the deck. for me 30 on controller is hard to discern from 60 if you get used to it. 30 on mouse though is horrible.
