@@gamingonlinuxIt is broken for me as well. You can only use the mouse in the menu and look around but you can't move. Test it by entering "coc whiterundragonsreach" im the dev console from main menu

Well it does work fine in docked mode, the issue is if you use the launcher, even in handheld mode you need to turn it off again otherwise keyboard will crash it. Not specific to docking.

Paid mods = putting food on the table from the Mod Authors stand point. , this can be resolved of the 'base version ' of a Mod has been published with some features while the 'Deluxe version ' has some more interesting features that can be accessed if u loved the base version.

At the modder's Nexus, mod authors get paid if they opt into the donation points program. On top of that, many more popular mod authors have Patreons. I'm not against paid mods, especially if their system for verifying works.

@@Schlumpsha well I have no leg in the race when it comes to skyrim mods. But there is another place to get them , but I am a modder but for a different game. So it's just an assumption of what I think that modders do deserve some credit when it comes to their work , dreams , and ideas.

Modders have had "tip jars" and other ways for users to pay them for there work. This is just adding a layer of DRM, plus if this is like last time a cut of the money goes to Bethesda so you are essentially giving Bethesda money for someone else's work and giving Bethesda full creative control on if it can be published. Also last time paid mods came into place there was a huge issue of people stealing other peoples work and putting it up as there own so they get all the money for someone else's work.

I recently purchased Skyrim and was excited to try out the mods. I wasn't aware that I had to purchase *Anniversary Edition* $19.99 just to look at the mods. I proceeded to purchase and took it for what it was. Once I opened the mods section I couldn't open it and found that it was connected a Bethesda server or whatever that's when I really got upset. I'm not too far into the game so i figured I wait for the server to come back online since I've seen the HD mods and wanted to enjoy it that way. Now I have to pay for individual mods. This is just ridiculous now especially when this game is extremely old I understand it has a big community, but there's no need to penny pinch a old game.

To me paid mods is a big no no. Even what I made of mods back in the day, I would never ever charge for, and there is a very simple reason for it. If someone paid me, there is an expected level of support there, the product has to keep working, I will have to "defend" it's price and it can never be allowed to be used by someone the moment I lose interest either, as that would devalue and offend those who paid. And to me, the price doesn't matter either, the threshold is at the moment it transitions from free to any sort of payment. This meant that I only sat down and worked on the mods when I was in the right headspace and had fun doing it as well, rather than slugging through them for the monetary value involved.

Skyrim was the right game released at the right moment; it was never the perfect game (even with mods). It's maybe more a monument to what a difference can be made by providing an enthusiastic community with creative tools over multiple releases than anything else. Skyrim with mods is tailored to a players desires, Skyrim without mods is closer to Viking Fantasy Goat Simulator than anything else on the market.

I honestly think paid mods is detrimental to the modding scene, because it means it will become an area filled with content from creators that exploit consumers rather than create mods for their love and creativity of the game. I see no problem with donation... but capitalization on mods will ruin the whole scene.

Here is the problem: we can all agree ppl should get paid for quality work. But paid mods exist in this gray area where they break upon updates, makes other mods depending on them difficult and incentivizes the modding community NOT to work or share content/information. They (ironically) have the habit of existing parasitically to the game, instead of adding to it.

I wouldn't mind mods as much if they managed to keep the base game updated and kept on fixing issues/bugs. I'd rather not have to pay for a mod just to have a game that doesn't crash. Not that this is an issue now with Skyrim, but I rather not have people switch over to paid mods for more fixes if something like that happens in the future.

What is the support like if there is a discrepancy between what the consumer thinks he is getting vs what he got or what is advertised vs what he gets ... Late reply but yes. Any mod on PC skyrim can be used on the Steam Deck. Although, don't expect to get the greatest shaders and graphics mods for it lol.

The update straight broke the game for me. I couldn't get it to launch for the last few days. Going to add the launcher as viewable again and see if there is something in settings that I can tweak to get it to load.

Personally I am very happy with this update , quality of life imo. Also if u lock it on 40 fps u just eating 12-13w compared to 20-25 if u let it unlocked. Battery life on steam deck is what I really love.

I love Skyrim, as we all do, but like you said… it’s an old game. I don’t wanna pay for mods on a game that’s old just because it needs fixes BECAUSE IT’S OLD. You are 100% right that a lot of great mod creators should be paid, though I’m not sure this is the best way to go about it

Have Deck OLED but I play on a modded Switch OLED with overclocks as high as CPU=2400 (stock 1020), GPU=1220 (stock 307/384 handheld, 768 docked), MEM= 2400 (stock 1331 handheld, 1600 docked) and games look and run almost on par with Deck. Can push MH Rise to 720p 60fps, Zelda TotK 720p 60fps, Hogwarts Legacy 720p locked 30fps which makes it look insanely good, its highly recommended

The creation club has been in the game for years. When Microsoft bought Bethesda they released the Anniversary Edition DLC which includes all creation club mods in one package. Where do you see the new patch notes? Latest I can see is September 2022 on Steam
