1:10 I recommend setting RS and Gyro both as ‘Mouse’ via Steam Input. The game handles mixed input just fine and it controls MUCH better than the native controller camera controls. (Especially in Cyberspace) I have just published a video on my channel that demonstrates this.

I do the same on Battlefield 5. I can play semi-competitively while being able to use controls that are intuitive for a controller player.

I've been looking forward to the release of this game. Happy to see it runs so well on the Steam Deck. I'd highly recommend setting your gyro controls to "mouse" via Steam for better control.

I've personally found that the most awkward part about combat is it'd weirdly hard to gauge attack range. Even something as simple as a retinal color change when you're in range with your current weapon would make a huge difference

Yeah that’s definitely part of it, i had the same problem in 7 Days to Die, hard to tell if you’re going to hit them…

Yeah, that is cumbersome with melee weapons... It helps if you prime the hit **before** going closer and time the release while moving in combat range.

I remember trying the original one installed from 1.44MB floppies. I was hooked even though the controls were quite different and bought the CD version, which I still have somewhere together with SS2. Wait has been long since Kickstarter, there has been highs and really lows, but maybe we finally get worthy successor for one of the BEST games ever. The new demo looks darn nice! Except that removing ethical constraints seemed too easy and happened too fast - I think there should be e.g fade to black with "eight hours later" text there to make the job seem more difficult... I hope they get the controls sorted out so that playing with Steam Deck does not need much work.

Took me ages to work out how to get it installed! Liked the original games so I thought I'd give this one a go. I agree with you Liam, great visual style and good start. Controls feel a bit clunky on deck, especially combat but it's definitely one for the wishlist 🙂

The frame rate for my steam deck does not lock at 40 even if I set it to that I don’t really know what you did but it don’t work for me

Installing the game now. I hope this does well so that Nightdive can give System Shock 2 the same remake treatment. As great and influential as SS is, SS2 is superior in every way.
