Yeah I’ve been using chiaki to play RDR2 and Ghost of Tsushima in far better quality than possible natively on steam deck. Anyone who wants customizable handheld gaming who also owns a ps4 or 5 should consider steam deck a no brainer.

@@ThePsychoticWombat the ps4 version was the remastered, not a simple port like you often see, ps3 games have an entirely different architecture from it's successors, its why PS3 games on PS Plus have to be streamed on the cloud, devs do not want to even touch PS3 games... it may play similar but it still had to be built from scratch. All we are saying is the PS3 version is not the one to be porting, it's the ps4 remaster that is easier and is essentially what you're after.

@@xKayNee 🤔 What are you on about? The PS4 version, (not the later remaster) was barely changed from the PS3 one apart from framerate and resolution, I seriously doubt they had to rewrite much, yeah the PS3 is weird, but they probably just mapped all the SPU functions to cores/threads and called it a day. And all the "oh, we spent so much time rewriting this for PS4" is just Sony trying to justify to you paying full price for old games.

@@ThePsychoticWombat PS3 game wasn't ported, it was redone and made better on the PS4. PS3 games are almost impossible to port, which is why almost every good ps3 title had to be redone and remastered, not a straight up port.

PS3 is one hell of console to develop with. Doing a port directly from PS3 probably is harder than the PS5 port we got. Maybe the PS4 remaster is easier to port instead? I’m assuming that was a pain in the arse to do.

This is a port of the PS5 version, which they clearly only optimized for PS5 and nothing else. It's not like the Steam Deck is alone in these issues. Many desktop PCs are struggling with it too.

@@gamingonlinux to the second point, I often find in troublesome games, like Hogwarts legacy that the steam os cap tends to product much smoother results. More often than not, in game caps are not implemented correctly, and I wouldn’t be surprised if that is the case for this game considering how much of a mess it was. A really strong example of this is halo infinite which had a bad implementation of vsync, hdr, vrr, AND fps cap AND drs. So you really never know. …unless you tried it already,

1) No, it's mentioned in the video. 2) Capped to 30FPS in-game. In-game FPS cap generally works better than the one in SteamOS, since it's external.

It’s not a CPU issue, as mentioned in the video it’s a RAM issue. Likely an issue in the Linux kernel that a future SteamOS update may solve.
