@@gamingonlinux The Anti Cheat also got added a good bit after launch, so people were mad about even more Denuvo getting shoved onto our systems, not to mention that it was the first time Denuvo Anti Cheat was used for anything, therefore it felt like we were going to be Beta Testers for them. The customerbase rightfully revolted, negative reviews on Steam, refunds where possible... some negative news coverage, the works. Oddly enough, i have never heard of any other game using Denuvo Anti Cheat, i wonder if they have just rebranded after that little revolt.

I think you can do high settings 60 fps with no hiccups on the deck. It's super, super well optimized

@@kraajkase hah! You're right, I was cheating! I had a dynamic fps target of 60fps, without it there's definitely some drops. However the dynamic fps implementation in this game is pretty good, I don't find it distracting or the game becoming a blurry mess like in other games

Just a tip, your shotgun has an attachment/upgrade to shoot grenades (I believe hold left trigger then shoot) and it'll take care of the big red flying guys and put them in a glory kill state!

I recently caved and bought this on my Switch I may have forgotten it had Denuvo on PC, but I feel like it was why I originally didn't play the game. Not a huge fan of spyware like that. If I knew they were doing this I may have gotten it on PC instead but, too late.

I think you had poor performance on DOOM 2016 because by default it uses OpenGL, and not Vulkan. Once you change that it in the Settings menu and restart the game, it'll run much better than Eternal.

WAIT! YOU are the guy behind GamingOnLinux steam curator? Man I never knew you had a YT channel, I subscribed to the curator GamingOnLinux way back when as I wanted to see the Linux takes on a few games. Well nice, at least with Denuvo gone, it is easier under Linux as well, with a lot of Wine games, I have to fight tooth and nail to make stuff work, example, Command and Conquer Generals.

I never did finish Eternal, I think the third or fourth Marauder fight made me ragequit maybe the day after I started it (and I bought it on day one, a very rare occurrence for me) as I couldn't stand how they killed the flow of the game stone dead. I heard there's a trick to killing them fast but that wasn't general knowledge at the time!

Medium settings are a bit low, i have been playing this game locked 60 with s mix of ultra and high settings since the day i got the game a year ago on deck. At least the game will have no issues offline now though

LoL? I played Eternal on my Steam Deck on High preset settings with some options on Ultra on stable 60 FPS (and when I see this video it looks like overlighted minecraft)... It is one of the best FPS games which run very smooth and I really enjoyed it with incredible details and lightning effects even on small Steam Deck screen...

While I don't mind new games release with Denuvo, but I do wish all games that is 2-3 years old should remove Denuvo because the game often goes on sale at an affordable cost that there's very little reason to pirate it. Furthermore, it allow people to completely mod their games, bringing new life to an old game.

Denuvo DRM definitely dissuaded me from delivering my dollars to the developers of Doom Eternal in a Decemer deal. But also I tried Doom 2016 and to me it just wasn't fun. I grew up with the original Doom and it's wacky derivatives but this one felt somehow 'off' to me. It ran great on the Steam Deck, but I just kept getting lost in the confusing map and without any reason to care about finding the next area. I've heard Eternal is better and pretty fantastic overall though so maybe it's time to try it. After the other 9 major titles in my backlog.

The hilarious thing is pirates got the game super early due to the devs leaking a denuvo free build on steam at launch. So denuvo was only there to protect the DLC but for launch Denuvo did litterally nothing to stop pirates, and it's weird because DOOM 2016 they removed denuvo very quickly once pirates cracked it.

It definitely wasn’t a locked 60 during my testing, and it simply isn’t needed on the handheld. You push the system further and it also takes more battery and makes more heat. Not everything on Deck needs to be as high as it can go.
