Youtube is still parsing it, its a 4k file. If it's blurry give it a few minutes and other options will pop up. I published it before it finished parsing the other quality options. The short version is -- VAAPI hardware decode (without DRM) causes the green video artifacting during playback. In VLC you can fix it if you go to the codec section and do any of these 3:- disable hardware decoding- choose VAAPI with DRM- choose VDPAUPosting this in hopes that it helps others because this was driving me insane.

@@tuxterlinuxgames as far as I'm aware H.264 has been fine for a long time. If you're getting this on H.264 it's likely a mesa driver issue.

hmm, i wonder if this is the same issue as I have with weird inverted colours every now and then in mpv, but it's fine with VLC

Unfortunately VAAPI recordings from OBS are completely useless for me – screen flashing green over the the blockiest imaginable compression artifacts, at any quality setting. Someone on reddit posted an ffmpeg command that records using VAAPI just fine. (This seems to affect 5700/5700XT.) Thanks for listening, lol

@@GloriousEggroll yep, I had the same problem on Arch that wasn't fixed by changing the decoder. Switching to mesa-got fixed the issue so thanks for the suggestion.

@@Mpdarkguy you might need to try mesa-git

6750xt here, gstreamer h.265 produces heavily artifacting video on arch with mesa 22.1.7-1 as well (vlc with all hw acceleration tried one after another + mpv) gstreamer h.264 hardware does work well though.

@@GloriousEggroll I’ve tried the gstreamer plugin (just tried again to make sure), same results. Mesa is 22.1.7-1, the vanilla Arch package. The things is… it used to work! It was heavier on the system than nvenc, but it didn’t look *broken*. Maybe I should try AMF?

Two things: 1) You need to use the gstreamer vaapi plugin, not the ffmpeg one that comes with obs, the ffmpeg one is trash: https://github.com/fzwoch/obs-vaapi In nobara ive already replaced the default ffmpeg vaapi encoder with this one 2) You need to be running a relatively new/updated version of mesa. You don't need mesa-git but you do need the latest version available.

I'm getting some really nasty green artefacts when recording using h265 with the GStreamer plugin, to the point where you can't even tell what's happening in the video. I have no idea why this is happening when it was fine last week. Changing the settings in VLC did not help.

Busy as always, Thanks for sharing, had to do a LOT of stuff to fix this but none worked.. Also items show very small to those of us using small monitors with lower resolution.. a little bit of scaling in your 4k might help.. Anyways, keep up the good work <3

TYVM seems like you've discovered a bug regarding presentation of VAAPI decoded video streams, since the DRM option seems to fix it. If you're using Wayland, XWayland could be the culprit aswell.

I have the same problem, sadly both vdpau and vaapi+drm disable hw decoding for me. With a 4k movie only normal vaapi doesn't doesn't max one core of my 6700k, but then I have the artifacts. Using the rx6700 10gb on arch, mesa from repo. Happening both on X11 and wayland. edit: nevermind I forgot to set VDPAU_DRIVER=radeonsi env variable...
