@@tuxterlinuxgames as far as I'm aware H.264 has been fine for a long time. If you're getting this on H.264 it's likely a mesa driver issue.

@@GloriousEggroll yep, I had the same problem on Arch that wasn't fixed by changing the decoder. Switching to mesa-got fixed the issue so thanks for the suggestion.

6750xt here, gstreamer h.265 produces heavily artifacting video on arch with mesa 22.1.7-1 as well (vlc with all hw acceleration tried one after another + mpv) gstreamer h.264 hardware does work well though.

@@GloriousEggroll I’ve tried the gstreamer plugin (just tried again to make sure), same results. Mesa is 22.1.7-1, the vanilla Arch package. The things is… it used to work! It was heavier on the system than nvenc, but it didn’t look *broken*. Maybe I should try AMF?

Two things: 1) You need to use the gstreamer vaapi plugin, not the ffmpeg one that comes with obs, the ffmpeg one is trash: https://github.com/fzwoch/obs-vaapi In nobara ive already replaced the default ffmpeg vaapi encoder with this one 2) You need to be running a relatively new/updated version of mesa. You don't need mesa-git but you do need the latest version available.
