you can already use both as-is, just read the directions on the github. Note: I ship both of them with OBS on Nobara by default so they are ready to go

@@GloriousEggroll Encoder: Gstreamer Encoder Type: VA-API Bitrate: 60000 GPU: 6800xt CPU: 3950x Resolution: 3840x2160 Framerate: 60 Both obs-vkcapture and gstreamer installed from AUR, I would always go back to FFMPEG VAAPI and downscale to 1440 then upscale it to 4k with a bit of sharpening because of the artifacts. can you clarify "this setup" -- ie what resolution, framerate, gpu? are you sure you're not confusing this with the FFMPEG VAAPI plugin? they are two different plugins, the ffmpeg one comes with obs and sucks compared to this gstreamer one

For this specific recording I used: Constant Bitrate: 60000 Keyframe Interval: 2 Everything else was left default. Ofc resolution 3840x2160 and 60 fps. 60mbps (60000) is an average/standard bitrate for 4k60 recording.

@@GloriousEggroll I'm retarded, sorry, lol. On my bucketlist it goes, but I gotta get more into the differences/hardware. There are plenty variations of the 6900 XT available, like red devil, retail, Gaming X, etc.. I have no clue what the differences are, or how they impact... Better be doing the research before purchasing something that expensive. Thanks pal, pal.

@@GloriousEggroll Thanks, i already was install vkcapture (package "obs-vkcapture-git" and "lib32-obs-vkcapture-git") and testing this GStreamer VAAPI on Titanfall 2 and NFS Heat (previously i using AMF). For my RX 580 - its is brilliant, no stutters, no encoder overload, no any issue. Almost how on AMF encoding but a lot cleaner and painless in terms of ease of installation.

Oooh I see the issue now. It's a kernel thing.. I manually downgraded my kernel to 5.13.0-58 via koji because my capture card does not support any higher kernel version yet. Booted up the default option and VA-API is there now. Too bad I need the 5.13 kernel for my capture card though until they release an updated driver. :/

@@GloriousEggroll I'm selecting "AMD/INTEL GPU VAAPI H.264 (via GStreamer)" on the first dropdown. Just to be clear, there should also be a VAAPI option on the second dropdown? (Encoder type, in the Encoder settings for the GStreamer plugin) Because I only have x264 as the only option there.
Channel views:708777

[ 2022-08-11 02:48:06Z ] 👍 0
thats because x264 is cpu encoding. you need to select vaapi from that dropdown. gstreamer can do both x264 and vaapi. you need to explicitly select VA-API in the gstreamer options, not x264
