in lutris right click the game > configure > system options at the bottom check the "Show Advanced Options" box, then search the system options tab for 'Command prefix' and enter the capture command in the box. (obs-vkcapture, obs-glcapture, obs-gamecapture)

How do you make gstreamer h.265 capable ? It works fine, but if I check the codec of the output, its only h.264 recorded.

@@GloriousEggroll Thanks now it works. But h.265 seems to have a problem on my system. RX6700 and Arch. It produce a grid of squares, some filled with green oder black. I check your nobara website. Is it possible that h.265 need mesa-git to work ? Or do you have any other idea how to fix it?

ah, it needs to be compiled from git because it was a recent merge: https://github.com/fzwoch/obs-gstreamer/commits/master

@@GloriousEggroll Interesting. I've only done 1440p 60fps with both, so I didn't know AMF can't do 4k60. I do see the difference in sharpness in things like the HUD elements in DOOM Eternal, but's honestly negligible and not noticeable unless you are trying to compare the two and specifically look for stuff like this.

AMF looks a little sharper to me. Performance wise, they seem equivalent.

Nice, it works, but how do I use constant QP? I usually record using qp = 21 with amf, how do I set this option in GStreamer vaapi?

to got mangohud capture here I got support on a github from vkcapture, here was missing some layers in "/usr/share/vulkan/explicit_layer.d" and for capture mangohud here i need to set this to steam launcher "VK_INSTANCE_LAYERS=VK_LAYER_MANGOHUD_overlay:VK_LAYER_OBS_vkcapture_64:VK_LAYER_OBS_vkcapture_32 %command%" thats the only way I can capture mangohud here, I don't know if its a nobara or mangohud problem, theres a way to make it simple for steam launch?

Regarding twitch bitrate limit, they say it's 6000 but You can go up to 8200 without being disconnected randomly.

obs has worked with pipewire for a long time now, almost 2 years

I believe obs-vkcapture has now been updated so you only need to use obs-gamecapture %command%

yep, thats a recent change after i talked with the dev and informed him we were already doing it on nobara :P

sorry i forgot to add this in the changelog -- the streamfx developer removed the AMF encoder stating that ffmpeg's AMF encoder is in a bad state: https://github.com/Xaymar/obs-StreamFX/pull/885#event-7227210603 i requested that he keep it, but he then diverted to pushing the responsibility onto the obs devs since theyve made a windows-only amf encoder. Unfortunately this leaves gstreamer-vaapi as the only viable option currently usable. It should also be noted Nobara's current OBS build has replaced the ffmpeg vaapi encoder with the updated gstreamer vaapi one. -and- there is an issue with h265 rendering green artifacts -- which apparently is a new OBS bug, not fault of vaapi or gstreamer, so im looking into that. vaapi h.264 should work well for streaming.

obs-vkcapture v1.2 added the obs-gamecapture command for both OpenGL and Vulkan capture and deprecated the obs-vkcapture and obs-glcapture commands

I've been enjoying GStreamer + VAAPI with my RX 6700 XT for a few weeks and streaming 1440p120 to my server which records the input to my NAS and transcodes with nvenc for twitch 1080p with no issues. But, it seems a recent update made performance much worse? Now there are way more settings and when using gstreamer I'm getting "encoding overloaded!" on the gpu encode. I'm on nobara. I haven't watched your latest video on amf yet, might give that a try and see if that works. It's just I was super happy with gstreamer vaapi and it worked perfectly before the update.

Thank you for this tutorial! I had no problems setting both plugins up and get them running with OBS and Steam as you showed. But looking at my twitch streams I still wonder what I am doing wrong. Its still pixelated when the game is moving. What am I missing?

I've been having the same issues after trying this. On local recordings at Twitch's recommended 6,000 bitrate, my captures will blur/pixelate/smear and then momentarily clear up. If I raise the bitrate to 30,000 as GloriousEggroll suggests in a video, the issues go away and the image quality is reasonable. But then I seem to still have a problem if I want to live stream. Did you ever make progress on this?

Does anyone have a RX 7000 series card to test? I found the recorded video is fine when using gstreamer vaapi h265 and set the bitrate to 60Mbps, but it seems a lot of frames are skipped when streaming using gstreamer h264 with 6Mbps bitrate. I have tried both 4K60 and 1080p60 for streaming and both skips a lot of frames. What is the issue here?

@@Skelterbane69 Just start the emulator from the command line (e.g. "$ obs-gamecapture dolphin") or edit the *.desktop file to alter the "Exec=" line (e.g change "Exec=dolphin-emu" to "Exec=obs-gamecapture dolphin-emu"). It's really that simple!

@@Skelterbane69 It's not a Steam only thing, you just need to start any game with obs-gamecapture "your command here". He just showed the way to do it in Steam, but it's the same idea for any other application.

I've got a 7900xtx and I can record at 4k 60fps 60000 bitrate with no issues. I do not use vkcapture, since that seems to be a steam only thing with the launch option, so I use pipewire screen record.

Has anyone got the gstreamer plugin to work in windows 11? I can't get it to come up in the menu.

On the GitHub paged, it tells you to add nvidia-drm.modeset=1 to the kernel parameters, what config file do I access to add it?

Do you still ship the gstreamer plugin in the latest release of Nobara? I installed OBS but I can only choose the FFmpeg option. I tried to install it manually but no luck it works for me only in the flatpak version of obs
