Since you're talking about AMF vs. VAAPI - why would VAAPI HEVC @ QP24 result in a larger file, than an nvenc encoding? …any ideas? Edit: should i use the proprietary drivers, with my 5600G APU - for trans-/encoding?

Nvenc is a better video encoder. There is no vaapi/amf config to have as good quality while keeping file size as low as nvenc.

no idea about the size, i use CBR at 60000kbps. i couldnt tell the difference between AMF and VAAPI so if VAAPI works for you I wouldn't bother with the AMF drivers

I think the 4 port 1080p AVMATRIX card may be more my speed right now since I'd like to run a few things into my capture rig. Any idea if the drivers would need a similar tweak? Would like to run my camera and a spare machine in by HDMI and I feel like that would be better with an internal card. Definitely debating this 4k one too though.

@Vashinator7 remove spaces from the directory name and any spaces in the path, the build script will trip over them. if that doesnt work check the hw_build log file, my guess is it wont instll because its not signed like the other one

Had an error while installing the driver: ERROR: Failed to copy driver source into /home/vash/Downloads/AVMATRIX VC41&VC42_linux_230324/hws_build Log mentions something about the source directory specified more than once. I have reached out to them about it.

@GloriousEggroll I am debating just ordering it and trying it out haha. Yeah, I am using the camlink 4k, but I find USB can be a little finicky sometimes if you close OBS. What camera are you using at this point? ZV-E10 here.

For my Camera I just use elgato camlink 4k, however I was also curious about this same card. They responded to my previous email and offered a coupon for another product for help with fixing their driver, so I might take them up on that.

I've been using Linux for the last 8 or 9 years and now due to yours and many other peoples hard work I've been able to use Linux without Windows for anything! We don't. We focus on gaming performance and content creation. We dropped selinux for apparmor. Any other privacy/security settings are from Fedora because we don't touch them. The distro is not compatible with secureboot since we can't sign the boot shim.

HD60 S+ also works very well for me. Depending on your motherboard, it will work OTB. For my B550 board, I had to launch OBS with rmmod --force uvcvideo && modprobe uvcvideo && obs for it to work(I got no video from the card otherwise), but on my B650 board that is not needed. I'm still unsure as to why it refused to work without restarting uvcvideo on my B550 board, but that was the workaround that actually made it usable.

Hey there thank you for reccomending the AVMATRIX card it works really well even with kinda offspec signals. I use it mostly with the MiSTer FPGA device and plan to use it with the Retro Tink 4K when that eventually comes out. I have an interesting problem and i wanted to know if you had any ideas of why it happens. I use qpwgraph to route the audio from the card directly to my headphones to get game audio to my headphones. This works fine until I open discord to talk to my friends the audio from everything starts to distort in weird ways and I thought that maybe it was cause of pipewire. I attempted to change pipewire settings to no avail including trying to accept 44100 and 48000 audio as default. Do you have any idea what I can do in this situation? Hi, I'm having issue with my elgato hd 60X, it seems I can't make it work with my switch. I have trouble getting the image to work each time (fiddling with obs sources and switching usb I happenned to get glimpses of switch output). @JaredX7 Don't know man. I have mine running perfectly fine. I use a displayport to hdmi adapter that supports vrr, which goes to a signal cloner (also supports vrr), which then goes to my monitor and my egato 4k x. passthrough on the elgato is kinda shit so thats why i use the cloner. its the only device i can get 4k60 capture on while still getting 4k120 with vrr on my monitor. @GloriousEggroll The Elgato 4k X on Linux isn't functioning properly sadly. The audio stops working within a minute or two, and obs says "Device or resource busy" in the log. So it looks like I could be stuck with my 7900xtx gpu running in x8 mode.

Figured it out with the Elgato 4K X. Little weird, bug of some description. I need to restart the PC every time the Capture Device properties window is accessed in OBS. As soon as it is accessed, it's no longer detected until a restart. Just closing obs, or re-adding the Capture Device source doesn't fix the issue. A PC restart has so far been the only thing that has worked. CachyOS. KDE Plasma. system-d. P.S. For 3840x2160 capture, I need to set the capture card to MJPEG.

they both work fine on kernels up to 6.14. 6.15 was JUST released which is the only reason one person had problems, because the driver hasnt been updated for 6.15 yet.

based on this video i bought the avmatrix one. it doesn't actually work for me. I installed the driver you have on github but i just get nothing in OBS Studio. it shows up as a thing you can select in the list, but clicking on it shows no content. OBS logs 3 errors. request for buffer headers failed, failed to map buffers and initialisation failed errno: invalid argument. sad. im using Zorin 17.3 now, which is kernel 6.8/Ubuntu 22.04
