This is just a small test. Warframe running on Steam Play/proton on Arch Linux with DXVK compiled from git.. Recorded on OBS using VAAPI (encoded on my GPU). Any stutter is just from the shader cache filling. Once it's filled the game plays fine.

neat! do you know if there's any way to keep the shader cache between game sessions? That'd be a stopgap solution for the stuttering

I think the latest DXVK automatically creates a cache folder inside the game's root folder.

Thanks for the showcase. Does your chat have a little bug where when you press T to open it, T is also typed in the line? It certainly didn't do that on my windows experience. Cheers!

another thing ive noticed is you should not max out the in-game settings. If they are set too high it takes away from OBS's frame rate because OBS can't render the preview properly (regardless of whether or not its hidden)

@@alphabennyrosy5068 heya, yeah it seems the encoder on the polaris cards just isnt good enough for 1080p60. i would give 1080p30 or 720p60 a try, havent tested polaris out in a while

@@GloriousEggroll Here I am 2 years later, with a decent AMD RX 580 graphics card and regular obs (From Arch Repo) with vappi encoder 1080p 60fps 30,000 bitrare keyframe interval 2 and it immediately has an encoding overload. I7 8700k processor in case that matters.

well if the hardware you're using is old its probably got an older generation encoder, not much will help that. 1080p 60 fps 30,000 bitrate, Keyframe Interval 2

I appreciate you posting your gameplay on linux, one thing though. Latest DXVK doesnt always mean the best results or performance, the stutter/low fps you have are fixed if you use "GloriousEggroll's" DXVK version from github. Try it out, it'll make the game run as good as on Windows. Cheers

Hi everyone, hi "GloriousEggroll" .Your scripts are getting better and better with each modification, and thank you for your efforts you are awsome ! :D But there is a bit of annoying thing when i run warframe using steamplay or lutris, my gpu starts to overheat and after a few minutes it crashes. So it seems that the gpu fan speed doesn't increase no matter how much heat the gpu produces.tried to run different games through steamplay but everything is working as it should. Im running 4.18.16-arch1-1-ARCH kernel and i have a ASUS Dual series Radeon RX 480 OC 4GB GPU. Would you please check what might be the problem ? Or if someone has any solution please send me a message. Thanks :D

:) hey thx for the reply. well my graphics fan speed control works perfectly in other games like skyrim or dota, but in this games for some reason i can't make them spin faster when i need it the most. Weird but i will try to fix it somehow by figuring out how to set my gpu to spin faster in terminal. But since i trust your opinion, could you please give me an advice how to do it ?( im new to linux, and im not into manual solutions). Here is what i tried yet, radeon profile gui (not bad but a bit buggy since i always need sudo privilages to run it, and if i exit it forgets my manualy set fan speed options, so its not ideal.)

Hey man sorry but my Warframe script had nothing to do with that neither does vaapi. My Warframe script is just a bash script. That sounds like a faulty hardware issue on your end

Hi everyone, hi "GloriousEggroll" . I managed to find a weird bug. For some reason steam proton can't handle power state changing using amdpu drivers, for example, before i start the game and change the power state in terminal using the command as root"echo high > /sys/class/drm/card0/device/power_dpm_force_performance_level" my gpu clock manualy set to highest performance, for the fan speed i managed to find a fancontrol gui in arch repo so that can solve the temperature rising, now it spins nicely. But the weirdest thing not only that wine/steam proton can't handle power state changes, it becomes unstable, and only accepts the automated power state ""echo auto > /sys/class/drm/card0/device/power_dpm_force_performance_level." The problem whit this is, that wine cant handle power state changing, and constatly underclocks my GPU/creates stutters and mess up fancontrol that should work out of the box without any fancontrol gui. But the thing is why is this bug only happens when i run warframe...... Other games work nicely. But at the end of the day i hope its wine specific bug and gets fixed. I just wanted to share this, maybe there are lot more people having this issue as i have.

Hey man, thx for your feedback. What variant of rx 580 you use ? ihave an asus dual series radeon 480 oc 4GB GPU. Im starting to think that this problem is maybe asus fan control related, i found usefull information on forums, and it seems that in some cases/in some games the asus gpu control and powercontrol malfunctions. The good news is, that the upcoming 4.19 kernel will incloude a receive for this kind of bug (hopefully. at least this is what the amd linux team promised). Keep up the good work whit warframe scripts :) your awsome, and it means a lot ! :)

This def. sounds like an issue with your setup and not something related to warframe, wine, or steamplay/proton. I run an RX 580 and a Vega 64 on two machines with amdgpu mesa drivers with none of the issues you're talking about.

Hey "GloriousEggroll" me again, i just want to give you a really good information that can be usefull for amgpu users, would you please recommend for people that use your scripts with gallium nine patches ? in the AUR/ arch repository its called wine staging nine. If you enable the gallium patches in winecfg/wineconfig it will give you almost the same performance as on windows, the game will be more stable, not to mention there will be no more stutters nor frame drops. Your suggestion was really great using the game whit just CSMT it was nice aswell but sometimes it stutterd, but whit gallium nine patches it blows me away how good the game runs, i get constant 120 fps and my frame time is always 8-10 ms ( exactly the same as on windows). If i would give you a good comparison then by enabling gallium nine patch i gained doubled the performance as before in terms of Frame Time ( and that is important for smooth animation experience), i had previously 18 to 20 ms frame times but the same fps. :D Im running rx 480. And whit this lot of problems would be considerd solved for amd graphics card users. Tho stability wise im a bit sceptical but its looks good for now.

Still my eyes isnt that trained as yours to notice graphical details that is very true or what is the difference. I hope you are not mad at me, i didn't had any ill intent.

If you want further detail on why dx9 is not a viable play option (and thus why gallium 9 cannot be used) here is the bug report: https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30061 and here is an example: https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=58076

gallium 9 is only useful for directx9. current warframe uses dx11 which uses dxvk which has nothing to do with gallium 9. the game has missing textures in dx9 which i s why g9 is not a good option
