@@Henk717 You do achieve the same results as FSR, just not the same results as a well implemented FSR but as a flawed implementation, different implementations of the same thing aren't different things you know. You didn't do anything in your previous comment to indicate "I just want people to know they need to do a little bit more than that (?) so they don't think FSR sucks blah blah blah", if you did, you would've just written a general informative comment instead of a comment meant to "correct" me, so stop pulling shit out of your ass please, all you were trying to do was nitpick for ego, I never stated it was a perfect implementation, end of story. Nice irrelevant rambling on your last paragraph, you just started talking about defects, so either attacking that strawman again or random rambling.

@@benign4823 Perhaps its because i am tired, perhaps its because you originally had it written slightly differently (I thought i read exact same instead of just same) but when i read your comment i thought you'd mean you would achieve the same results as FSR. That part i am pointing out wouldn't be the case, the quality presets work differently than simply setting the resolution because only some parts get rendered at a different resolution and effects like film grain would be applied after the fact. So i am not trying to strawman here, reading it again i understand that you mean you can just have the same resolution as the official one in the quality preset for similar quality. I just want people to know they need to do a little bit more than that so they don't think FSR sucks by just lowering the resolution and having it on. Because its not the official implementation they will get some artifacting they would otherwise not have had, and they will need to turn effects that hurt FSR like Film Grain off and then they'd get good results out of it. And if a game has FSR you'd still be better off not enabling it on the Proton side, and enabling it in the game with the official preset rather than this DYI approach (Which is awesome, just slightly inferior according to the guy who made it).

@@Henk717 I can't see how what I said is not "entirely true", what are you even referring to? I never stated that it's "perfect" as you put it, hell, I don't think you're even replying to the right comment. So you're really nitpicking, actually more like strawmanning, but it's good for that ego boost when flaunting your "superiority" by "correcting" someone no?

@@benign4823 This is not entirely true according to the commit. FSR needs supported games to function properly, this is the close but not perfect. So it will have things like menu/UI artifacting and issues with post processing like film grain. So its not the same effect, its just very close if you keep a few issues in mind.

Yeah, there are no presets though, not with the way FSR is implemented here, you can pick the resolutions they chose to be used for the presets to get the same effect as picking the preset on a supported game, but you don't need to. I just checked all resolutions the game (I tried on The Witcher 3) had for me when using FSR and picked the one that brings the lowest GPU usage coupled with the smallest loss in quality.

If you're using lutris you can use the latest lutris-fshack runner and set WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR=1 in environment variables.

I think at the moment you need to manually download and apply the patch to the source tree and rebuild Proton.

@@JahidulIslam @Jahidul Islam On Linux there is no option to choose the presets. It upscales the in-game resolution to whatever your native resolution is. I'm playing at 2259x1270 upscaled to 4k, that would be equivalent to the balanced preset, I think.

from what Ive heard yes it will be compatible because it is running Linux? something like that but honestly I doubt FSR will be any useful on a 800p resolution screen. So far FSR is great only from 1440p and up, any lower resolution makes it even worse
